: Well i did it.

: I trimmed off about eight inches to even up the ends.

: I got tired of how bad the ends looked so I chopped off about
: eight inches. I hete to lose that much length but I also hated
: the way the ends looked.

: So now the hair is at nipple length, i'm wondering if I can get it
: longer without damage. Using coooanut oil didn't seem to help the
: ends. I'm at a loss as to what is causing the damage to ends.
: Old age? (I'm 62 years old now.)

: Hopefully this will be as short as it gets.

OMG...Did you really need to cut that much hair?
To add to what others have written, I'd suggest you now go the a hair stylist that you have confidence in, every 6 months (so twice a year). Have him or her TRIM the ends, usually not more than half an inch each time. It should help in having your hair grow longer and stay healthier.
