Homosexuality is not the same as Native American cultural ways at all. In conservative areas of the U.S., it is better to know these homosexual signaling things than not so that the majority heterosexual community knows that one is not homosexual. Long hair or curly hair that does not look like naturally curly hair can be taken as homosexual in conservative African American and white communities. I am dark enough that I look like a light skinned African American person. I have to be careful not to signal in any wrong way to other communities of color in any kind of way who I am. I do not want to be assaulted. In making the post, I was pointing out facts. These facts are imperative for showing respect. They are also not a majority culture perspective. Please live in my moccasins for a while. I have already been through deciding whether I were homosexual or not.
