Here's another classic antique garden rose -- in this case, a climbing French tea rose called "Sombreuil", from 1850. To me, it smells a bit like green apples, combined with the fragrance of a freshly opened box of black tea (hence the name, "tea rose")...
When this rose is fully open, there are so many MANY petals in the center that it looks like some crazy seamstress didn't know when to tell herself, "STOP!"
I don't remember whether it was Bill or Larry that took these pics of me 6 or 7 years ago; but in any case, I should have at least COMBED my hair beforehand, my apologies!
