Parents, being typical strict asian parents can't stand it, but I'm pushing through and loving it more every day.
Hey Goku,
Welcome to the tribe, bro.
Your hair looks awesome. The fact that you are pushing through in growing your hair out despite opposition says to me that you are a born long hair. In other words, having long hair is part of who you are and without it you would be lacking something integral to your identity.
I hope that you will continue to grow your hair out. Stay strong. You know that you will find support and advise here at this hyperboard among your long haired bros.
Welcome to the family, dude!
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
Thanks, appreciate it! and yeah I've wanted long hair for a while and final just took the plunge.
Welcome Goku! You have awesome hair! I'm jealous. I hope you
can keep growing it and be who you want to be.
Thanks! and I'll certainly do my best.
Welcome! Wow, your hair is fantastic, you've got a great length already after 21 months. Enjoy the journey and stay strong!
Thanks and I'll do my best!
Welcome, Goku. Glad you finally posted. You have incredibly thick and wonderful looking hair. Do you do anything special to keep it looking so healthy?
-Marx
Thanks! Not really, just ry my best to take good care of it. Worked out a decent routine. Mostly it's probably good genes!
Your hair is really thick. Hopefully your parents will eventually accept you having long hair.
Scott
Thanks! So do I, but doesn't really matter all that much if they do.
wow, your hair is proper boss, I love it! I'm sitting with coconut oil in mine, I'm only 6 months down the line. Your length is the length I want mine, can't wait to get there. Do you use any specific treatments on your hair?
It is a nice length since it looks good down, but also in a pony or a bun. I use argan oil every other week or so. Also just try to avoid breakage and change up how I wear it a bit. Best of luck!

I'm an Asian parent, and you have my approval and blessing to keep growing! :-) Looking good!
I accept! Too bad you aren't my dad or I'd probably already have it to my waist.
Wow, your hair looks great. BTW, I had the same issues with my parents as you currently have...That what 40 years ago. I wished I had stood up like you're doing. Keep on living your long hair dreams! It's worth it, believe me.
It definitely is worth it and I still have a ways to go!
Goku...
You have great hair that looks healthy! Keep up the good work and I am sure you will be pleased with the results as you achieve the length you want..
Tristan
Thanks! Already quite pleased so anything else is sort of bonus.
Hi Goku,
I have to say asian longhair is some of the best I've ever seen so good for you going with what you want in that department.I'll never understand why parents battle their sons over having long hair as it just a natural thing really. It doesn't hurt anyone, doesn't start wars, doesn't cause starvation.....well you get the idea ;) Have a great day my friend and do keep us posted on your progress.Cheers

At the age of 62 I can understand where the parents are coming from. A number of them served in the military and bring that military experience home with them at the end of the day.
Also a number of parents felt that having a son with long hair
reflected badly on their parenting.
And then there were the schools and employers who were very much against long hair.
Sadly alot of this battle still rages on today although it is better than it was in the 60s. (it's not perfect but it is better.)
LHIA,
I do agree it has gotten better but then I can only go by my local perspective. However it seems the younger generation gets away with a lot already when you see all the tattoos, body piercings, and weird hair coloring outside the norm.As for parenting in some cases I think a lot of them either don't care or are just wrapped up in themselves. Those are the ones who should never have had kids really.Cheers

Your hair looks excellent, Goku! Over time, your parents will get used to it. You're the same person on the inside; so as long as you remain loving and kind and patient and helpful towards them, they will have no reason to seriously find anything to complain about.

Thanks, I sure hope so.
Wow... your hair is simply outstanding. Kudos for having the strength and integrity to remain true to yourself.
Best regards,
Val
Yeah took a while to commit, but doing my best to not give in.
