I started growing both of them at about the same time. I have always had a relatively short beard but never anything even approaching long hair. I've wanted to try long hair for years and guess all the hipsters growing it out finally got me to take the plunge. I have really been enjoying my mountain man look, but my wife says there is just too much hair at this point and I have to choose one or the other. I am fairly certain she'd prefer I cut my hair. She likes the beard (always has), though perhaps would like it trimmed up a bit. I have been leaning the other way though. I have found it a lot harder to grow out my hair and really enjoy having it long. It's a whole different feel and I am a fan of the look. I was joking with her that it had just hit puberty since I can finally tie it back comfortably but it is more of a tuft than tail, but she has been insistent. Been giving it some thought but figured I get some opinions on here since I have come here for inspiration from time to time and you all seem like a kind-hearted bunch. This is definitely a biased audience, but I guess I am a biased petitioner. Appreciate any opinions on the matter or my growth.
What do you like? If you like your long hair and your beard than keep both. I feel that this should be your choice. Right?

Hey radiomask,
It's good to hear from you, bro.
A couple of things:
1. Your wife is someone who should listen to and consider what she is saying. You owe her respect.
2. You said in your post that you like your mountain man look; you like your long hair and your long beard. However, you really have come to like your long hair. You said that you have always wanted to try long hair and that now that you are achieving your long hair and can finally pull it back and tie it the sensation is new and exciting. If you had to make a choice you would lean toward keeping your long hair. It sounds to me as if you are a born long hair. In other words, having long hair is part of who you are and that if you did not have your long hair your would not be completely you.
3. In this matter you should do what you need to do to be true to yourself.
4. Love your wife, Don't break up your marriage because of your choice of grooming. However, your wife love you. If you choose to groom yourself in a particular way and present yourself to the world in a particular way she may not agree with your choice but she loves you.
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
If you really need to make a choice keep the hair. As you said
its a lot harder to grow long hair than a beard and maybe now
that you can start tieing your hair back your wife will like it
more AND you are liking your long hair!!
I vote to keep the beard and the long hair.
And what do YOU want to do?
I would keep the long hair, no doubt!
How would your wife respond if you were "insistent" that she change aspects of her physical appearance (cut/grow her hair, lose/gain weight, get a boob job, wear her make-up differently, etc.) to better suit your tastes? Keep this question in mind when you decide whether or not to become a less authentic version of yourself in order to fit into someone else's mold.
Regards,
Val
