I'm not against long hair and have had it on and off, but do
some of you ever desire change and go short?
NEVER, I like mine long too much to go short, plus, I wear earrings, and I sometimes keep my hair over my ears to hide the earrings if I'm in a place where I don't want the earrings to show.
Never. Absolutely not. Not in this lifetime.
Going short would be akin to cutting off an arm or leg.
It will stay long until the day I die.
Never!
I have been allowing my hair to grow freely now for sixty-eight (68) months. I realize that being a long hair man is part of who I am. I have wanted to grow my hair out all of my life. When I finally did it at the age of fifty-five (55) I incurred opposition and discouragement. I preserved and now I could not imagine myself without my hair.
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
At times. I feel I go through cycles, in which I want to grow my hair out, wear it long for a while, then get a drastic haircut and then start growing all over again. I know it's not a popular sentiment here, but I sometimes feel the journey in growing long hair, progressively seeing it change and lay differently month after month, etc.., is more exciting then when my hair is already grown out.
I enjoy my long hair too much to cut it. And being able to instantly put it up and away totally short circuits the sudden urges to cut due to it getting in the way.
Nope.
When this thought enters my mind (should I cut it for "practical" reasons, to be less noticeable in public, etc?) it is dismissed very quickly. I am not interested in conforming to "other people" beyond respecting their rights, and I can tie it up, put on a hat, etc. for activities like sailing or using woodwork machinery.
I feel like most other people here on MLHH. Hair is a part of our individuality and way of life. If there is a temptation to chop it off, there is the "two-week rule": think it over for that period of time and never act in anger or on impulse, just like anything in life.
This board is a place where we discuss hair, because it is still contested in some sectors of modern life. We are not obliged to be conformists and one purpose of life is to be ourselves and free.
Greetings to all,
Anthony

I have had long hair 3x in my life so far. I'm 32 and I had the 3 big haircuts at 19, 24 and 31.
The first time I got it cut at 19 I was essentialy forced into it due to pressure from my mom; the last 2x was due to a personal choice. I don't regret cutting it those last two times and even though I'm short haired now I might grow my hair again one day.
One final comment is that I enjoyed the growing out process the first couple a times but not the 3rd as I knew what I wanted (mid back length) and was well aware of how long that would take (years!).
Never. I always had slightly longish hair, but once I decided not to ever cut it again, that was that. However, at my age, the terminal length is about 14 inches, and that's been constant for the last 15 years. So I sort of get automatic hair cuts.
Unfortunately you are like me, a ridiculously short terminal
length. Never had the chance to experience mid back length
even when I went 15 years with no cuts, trims etc.
No, never!
I've waited so many years for this time to come and finally let my hair growing, even with the pressure of my family that I'm not going to waste 3 years and a couple of months on a barbershop chair in less than 5 minutes.
Can't feel myself without long hair, maybe one day I could sport some sort of undercut but no and I could regret bitterly for it!
Take care!
No

... thank you so much Teddy - I've missed you: ( I'm a bit of a 'lurker' here these days - understandably being a 'short-hair' now ... LOL !!! ) ... I'm doing very well thanx & I really hope you are too - & you take the best of care also ... PS: after an 11. year break from tennis: ( a sport I love very much & I've played for 37. years now: ( as I'm 50. now ) - I gave up tennis as life took over & my energy for extra curricular activities ran out ) I / we: ( doubles ) managed to win my very 1st mens competition since returning to the game at the same time I cut my hair - I've lost weight & feel fitter & healthier - short hair frees me up to 'do-&-go' ... but as my life unfolds & my life becomes less hectic - I may once again grow my hair long - I loved my 'long-haired-journey' very much ... love to you & all here ... Cem. :O)
