Hi all
I hope everyone is well.
I was a regular here a few years ago, my hair was long and then I decided to wear it short for a while. I'm now wanting to grow back out albeit a greyer colour. My question is this, at the moment it is very short on the sides (like number 2 clippers) and nearly eyebrow length on the top part, should I shave it all back to say number 2 to start it off and grow evenly or just leave it and see how it goes - obviously the top is going to hang down much longer than the sides and I'm not sure how that will look (well I do actually, pretty daft I think!).
Regards to all
Dave
Hi, Dave! Don´t cut the top, it´s never a big problem. Generally, the sides can be a nightmare during the awkward stage, but I guess a somewhat long top can help you through it.
Regards!
Hey Rul
Thanks for the advice and reassurance, I'm gonna leave it and battle on :)
Cheers dude
Dave
Hey, Dave. Don't cut it! I started with a similar haircut, and it grew out really nicely.
Thanks Steve, thats what I will do, I don't want to lose the progress I have attained thus far on the top!
Take it easy
Dave
Hi Dave, great to hear from you again!I'm happy to read you want to regrow your hair :) I wouldn't worry too much about the grey colour since there is always henna ;) As for your question I would think just letting the hair grow untouched wold be the best advice.Maybe posting a pic would help us make a better suggestion.Anyway hope all has been well with you my friend.I do think about you from time to time.Cheers

Hi Mark
Thankyou for your reply and sound advice. Its fun to be back in the growing stage again. The board seems to have lots of new names and faces, but not so many from 'my day' shall we say. My hair is mainly grey on the sides and my beard is doing well and keeping its colour. I often think about you guys and check in to see what is happening aboard the good ship MLHH! Attached is a picture of where I am today :) sorry its not long hair friendly just yet, although Oren would approve of the beard.
Take care buddy
Dave
Well, hello stranger :-)
Nice to see you again!
By the way, the beard looks superb!

Oren!! great to hear from you my friend, I often think about you and check your growing pages now my beard is getting long- sort of a comparison, tips, growers guide if you will :)
Have a great holiday season and I hope to see your smiling face on the board :)
Dave
Hi Dave,
Great to hear from you again and also wonderful that you're going to be regrowing! I think it actually is better to have the top longer starting out so just let it all grow from here.
Best,
Jason
Hi Jason,
Thanks for your reply and great to hear from you. I will leave it as you say, I was just a little concerned about the top weighing down on the sides and making it flick out at the bottom. My previous 'grow' was from the same length all over.
Thanks again for your advice
Regards Dave
Hi, Dave,
Welcome back.
From what I remember of growing my hair (has it really been 12 years?) the most frustrating part for me was not being able to tie it back properly because the top wasn't long enough.
I'd say that starting off with it longer on top will actually make the awkward stage easier to live with because you'll get through it more quickly.
I can still remember the advice my hairdresser gave me when I told her I was planning on growing it long: "Don't cut it till you've reached your goal length."
Thanks dude, good advice, I remember when I first grew my hair out it was from a shaved head so it was very natural really which I really liked, we shall see! :)
cheers
