Hello all ! I have been growing my hair out going on 3 years as of this coming May. In that time frame, I have only had a single hair trim of half an inch. That was about a year and a half ago. This past weekend, I had my hair trimmed again due to quite a bit of split ends. I was worried about getting any trim because it just seems counter productive, and I really love my hair the longer it gets. For the sake of hair health, and to possibly prevent stunting future hair growth I went ahead and got the trim. I will post a pic of it. Being used to the length I had, I feel like my hair is sooo much shorter. It feels like I just set my self back by at least 4 months or so :( Let me know what you think. Thanks guys ! Your support on this forum helps me when I need it the most :)

Here is a current pic after recent trimming of split ends..hair does look healthier at least.
I'm wondering how much hair was trimmed? I usually get about a half/inch every four to six months...strictly blunt cut...

One more pic...
Hi Patrick,
Your hair looks great! I feel that trims are necessary. Some people may disagree, but eventually your hair becomes damaged at the ends. Your hair would continue to grow, but would appear thinner due to the damaged ends. The split ends break and make the hair appear thinner. It looks like you have a stylist that you can trust. That is the key. Once you find a good stylist continue to go to them and only them. I get my hair trim twice a year. I had 3 inches trimmed the last time I went for a trim. I am currently at belt length when my hair is down. I personally do not want to grow my hair much longer than that at this time.

Hey Patrick Brands,
Your hair looks awesome!
I have gotten some trims. My hair stylist said that the hair will grow stronger and longer with the "frizzies" trimmed away. We'll see if it does.
Keep us posted if your trims help to promote hair growth.
Your long haired bro,
