Anyone here watching Game of Thrones with their wonderful hair?
"The GoT version of the man-bun, and just as sexy. In Dothraki culture, a man's braid is cut off when he is defeated in combat as a way of emasculating him and showing shame. As demonstrated by his long, luxurious braid, Khal Drogo's hair had never been cut. The longer the braid, the manlier and sexier you are considered worth eating a horse heart for, even."
New episodes start July 16th. The series ends after season 8. Five spin offs are being considered. (Airs on HBO).
Long braid that has never been cut
It's funny to see the extremes of masculinity including long hair. I mean, we idolize warriors, celebrate their masculinity and have grown to accept their flow as a symbol or status of being a man. Nowadays, so many men with long hair are seen as feminine. Granted one is typically wielding a giant weapon of sorts and the other is going to his 9-5 holding a coffee, but you get the point haha. But times are a changing!
I absolutely agree with you.
These warriors with long hair are amazing.
Khal Drogo is so cool!
I will probably eventually get around to watching GoT... eventually. I don't have much time for watching things, usually, so my list of things to watch is always growing and rarely shrinking. Also I'll have to read the books first, and I'm currently in the middle of a different epic fantasy series (Malazan Book of the Fallen; plenty of mentions of long hair in the books).
Actually the general is to watch the show first, then read the book.
That may be the general, but I'll stick to my plan.
The general idea is it's better to see the show first then read the book. Typically a book author has 700 pages to tell the story, while a film or tv show may have only 100 or 200 pages to tell the story.
So why would that make watching first a better option?
Because when they make a movie they have to cut out alot
of the story. They have to cut out alot of the details that would
be found in the book. (the movie would be 100+ pages while
the book would be 700+ pages.)
