Hi everybody,
Just thought I would post an update of my hair growth progress. In October I will have been growing about 2 years. I have trimmed it a couple times so it seems kind of short. Also, I suspect one or more of my meds is causing lackluster growth. Needless to say, it is growing! Sorry the pics aren't good-today was my dialysis day.
I really enjoy seeing everyone's progress photos! Very helpful to keep me growing! Thanks and please keep posting! Take care and have a great weekend everybody!
Ted
Hi Ted,
Great to see a post from you and with pics too!Your new journey is coming along nicely in spite of how you feel about the rate of growth.I see a full head of hair with absolutely no thinning so great job so far :)I trust all has been well with you otherwise even though the dialysis gig is a drag. Please stay in touch my friend and keep the faith ;) Cheers

Hi Mark,
I thank you kindly for your very nice reply! I must say that everybody's update photos have been inspiring me like crazy! I just have to be patient! When I cut my hair, it only took about 20 minutes. But growing it back, forget about it. Thank goodness my hair isn't curly! Then I'd be looking at double the amount of time to grow! But then again, I would love to have curly LONG hair any day! You can't tell, but my hair has definitely thinned out over the years. But that's okay, I'll take it. I may cut it to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths when it gets long enough. I want to still have below shoulder length hair after the donation cut:).
My health has been holding out thank Goodness. This month, I have been on dialysis 6 years. Still waiting for a transplant. However, they have taken me off the transplant eligibility list due to having a weak heart. I am taking a med to try to help with that. So hopefully the future will be good for me. Regardless, I enjoy each and every day to the fullest. Life is and always will be good! Dialysis is not too bad since they have free high speed internet and I use my tablet to watch youtube videos and learn a lot. One day I watched a mechanic rebuild a complete auto transmission. I could not believe the detail he went into! He knew every single piece and part and explained what they did! Very interesting!
Thanks again for your kind wishes! Please stay well my friend! :)
Ted
Hi Ted,
Thank you for the reply.First off I'm very sorry to hear you had to be taken off the transplant list for the reason you stated.Figuring how long it takes to receive a donor organ it seems to be a setback but hopefully once you can go back on that list you won't return to the back of the line.I'm certainly rooting for you to receive that transplant so life can return to normal for you.
I looked up that Pantene Beautiful Lengths and as expected its another hair donation site but looks like this one just caters to women with cancer.Honestly I never understood the value in having people give up their long manes like this but it is what it is.Knowing your situation I would feel organ donations are way more vital than hair donations being that is only for cosmetic reasons whereas organs save lives.Regardless you are in my thoughts Ted as I know you'll succeed so just keep the faith.Cheers

Hi Mark,
Thanks much for the well wishes! I am hoping my next appointment with the heart doctor goes well!
As far as the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program they are much better than some of the others. Locks of Love charges people for the wigs. Pantene Beautiful Lengths doesn't charge anything for the wigs. Much better in my opinion. I have to agree with you about the organ donations though. But thank goodness hair grows back and can be donated again. I really appreciate your thoughts my friend! Always be well!
Ted
Hey Ted,
Awesome hair, bro!
Your progress is amazing! For twenty-two(22) months you have some amazing length and volume! I suggest that if you are trimming your hair that you double the length of time between trims as compared with what you are doing now. See if you realize greater length and more rapid growth.
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
Hi Raymond,
Thanks so much for your kind reply my friend! Yes, I would agree with your opinion here! But one day I noticed that one side of my hair appeared longer. So, I grabbed my wife's hair trimming shears and just "evened it up my self"! Then I ended up messing it all up! So I had my wife trim it again! So, I lost even more length! Word to the wise. Go to a professional to have it trimmed in the first place! I might go to the salon up the street soon and have the ends cut to eliminate split ends. I think that may help as well. That salon does a wonderful job on my wife's hair.
Thanks again for the advice and nice reply! Please take care of yourself! Looking forward to your next update too!
Your bro Ted
Ted;
Your hair looks great, as do you ! It is always a treat when you stop by.
Keep well, my friend.
Walter
Hi Walter,
Thanks for your kind remarks! It is definitely a treat when you stop by! I am trying to maintain a positive attitude in light of my health situation! No pity parties here I tell you! As for the hair, that's another story! We'll get there someday!
Thanks again and please stay well my friend!
Ted
Hi Ted,
One of the rare times that I come out of the woodwork, and I agree with Walter, that it is always a treat when you stop on by to say hi and to update us.
Of course, my best wishes are with you always, and your hair is coming along very well and is in great condition. Please never feel discouraged by the growth rate, since I know it's getting longer.
Take care, and thank you for popping in.
David
Hi David,
Thanks so much for your very kind remarks! I am glad that I was able to pull you out of the woodwork! And it's also a treat to see you stop by my friend! Your well wishes are certainly appreciated also! I will try to keep you all updated on my health status as I find things out. Right now though, it's just dialysis Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Which is enough for me! I just had a Colonoscopy and they found two polyps and removed them. But I have to get another one done in 3 months so they can make sure everything's okay.
As for the hair, well, it is what it is. I am trying to hang in there. I don't understand why my hair seems to be coming in straighter this time around. My avatar shows my hair being more wavy. I'll take whatever I can get! As long as it grows! I need to visit your growth progress pages David. But I can't remember where they are. Can you please remind me?
Well, enough for now! Thanks again David and please stay well my friend!
Ted
Ted, you are doing really great, and you will soon forget that haircut of a couple of years ago.
I'm sure your doctor has recommended vitamin and mineral supplements for your general condition and your hair.
Keep up the good work, and your hair will again be as long as it was before. It's the "pilgrimage" of our lives, a marker and a sign to the outside world.
Best wishes,
Anthony
Hi Anthony,
Thanks a bunch for your very kind comments! I'm not sure I will forget the haircut! But at least it seems to be growing. If I ever think that it's not growing anymore, I will probably cut it.
I have not asked the doctor about hair supplements but I may ask if any of my meds are causing slow growth.
I agree with your last statement and thank you for the compliment! I shall go forth and conquer! Onward and downward we go! Please keep your wonderful mane growing and stay well my friend!
Ted
Hi Ted,
You're coming along nicely, quality and quantity! (no thinning)
Stay well,
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
Much appreciation for your very nice reply! I am definitely trying my best! Actually, my hair has thinned considerably over the years! But thankfully no bare spots or MPB going on! Although I think it's cool when guys with MPB still let their hair grow. Long hair is long hair in my book!
Thanks for coming out of the shadows for me and please stay well my friend!
Ted
Hi Ted.
It's wonderful to hear from you. Good to see that you are feeling better....and that your hair is getting longer. Be patient and it will continue to grow longer.
Take good care of yourself.
A.D.
Hi A.D.,
Thanks so much for your kind hearted reply! Yes, I am feeling much better these days despite my weak heart! And also now that my hair is trying to regain the length. They say patience is a virtue! I better be patient!
I go to one of my cardiologist appointments this Thursday. We'll see if my meds are helping to improve my heart's performance. I will try to get back to you what I find out. Many thanks for your kind thoughts! Please take care of yourself!
Ted
I'm a bit late to this thread, but look how far along you are now. It will be grazing your shoulders in no time.
Hi Carol,
Very nice to pull you out of hiding! I thank you for your very nice reply! Yes, I just need to be very patient! I asked a nurse at my dialysis clinic if it took her a long time to get her hair where it is. She said yes. Her hair is about to her tailbone. So I guess it really does take a long time to grow hair! I keep thinking all these people with long hair grew it really quick1y. Apparently this is not so! Oh well, onward I go!
I sure hope everything is fine with you these days! Please take good care of yourself and check in more often!
Ted
