Hi my name is Mic! I am 17 years old. All my life my mother has given me the at home haircuts because my father is ill and has a surgery for something different every year. So we try to save every penny we have for him. My hair looks like an awkward mushroom and I try to tell her to do something different but its hard as I have severe scalp psariosis. Basically my skin cells grow rapidly, while everyone elses grow normally. So Im kind of chained to one haircut. As my mother and father grew up with no nonsense parents they always tell me I cant have long hair. I cant wait to grow it! I want to know how can I grow out bangs that are cut in a straight line so I dont have to have those be so blunt. My hair grows fast and is thick. So its a yikes. Thick brown bangs and a bowlcut at 17, life is rough. Any comments are encouraged! When did you all start growing your hair out. And did anyone have the dreaded bowlcut? As a kid/teen? Have a great night/morning!
Hi Mic, I used to have a bowl cut, was younger than you though, maybe 6 to about 12. If it was me id politely tell my mother to leave the bowl in the cupboard from now on and just let it grow and see where it takes you, a good selection of hats and hair bands will help you on your way. Good luck!
Welcome to the board.
Good luck with your parents, that can be hard.
Express your desire for growing your hair and telt them why its important for you.
Maybe they will let you grow it, otherwise wait till you move out.
Some members here started growing there hair out once they moved out as well.
I started growing my hair at age 22, but my parents always supported me.
And thick fast growing hair is a blessing!
Good luck,
Vincent
I had a bowlcut... For a few years. Middle school into H.S. I liked it.
Then I pierced my ears (which my parents hated). Suddenly they were OK with me growing my hair since it covered my ears!
LOL, that's a terrific story, I loved reading it, thanks for sharing it!
