My son decided to grow his hair out when he was 7. He is now 12 and has been growing his hair for the past 5 years. It takes a lot of character to have long hair when it goes against the grain and I am glad he has developed that along with having a great head of hair. Kudos to all of you.

Hey Allie!
Your son's hair look absolutely magnificent! Absolutely gorgeous!
I hope that he continues to let his hair grow.
You must be very proud of him.
Raymond
Fantastic looking hair! Congratulations to you both!
Thank you! Not sure how much longer it will grow, but he definitely doesn't plan n cutting it.
That is awesome! I would have been the happiest kid in school if I'd been allowed to have hair like that! Your son is very fortunate to have such understanding parents.
Thanks. He certainly is quite happy with it himself.
Not only does he have a magnificent head of hair but he also has great strength of character to go "against the grain" as you say. Good for him.
Thanks, I've showed him the compliments.
He has great looking hair. Good for him.
Thanks, he certainly does.
Wow, I'm impressed! Congratulations to both parents for letting your son grow his hair very long. I sure wish my parents would have been as open-minded as both of you are....
A.D.
Thanks but I can't take much credit.
What do you mean? Aren't you the one giving him permission to grow his hair very long?
Love your Son's long hair, can you post more photos with different styles?
I'll see if I can remember to do that when he decides to wear it differently. He is able to mostly take care of it himself these days and generally does it in a braid like in the picture or a ponytail.
No Worries, post the pics whenever you can, I wish to have long and thick hair like him, Good luck for him to reach terminal length!

He asked me for a bun today (still can't manage that himself).
Wow, Nice Bun! yes its not easy to make the bun..thanks for posting the pic..
He has AWESOME looking hair!!!
Love to see it brushed down to show the length
Amazing!!
With youth comes thickness and great shine/colour, I wish I could have had long hair at school, but as soon as mine hit the collar I was threatened with suspension :(
I had to be content with wearing cowboy boots and writing Black Sabbath as big as possible on my school bag :)

Thank you for sharing the photo. Brings back memories. When i was his age my hair was about the same length and colour, perhaps slightly longer. My parents began growing out my hair when i was about five and so by 12 it was very long, thick and shiny. My mother and step mother Maggie had raised me to believe that long hair was a sign of strength. All boys should have long hair they said. As soon as my hair was shoulder length it was cut in to a sharp bob. I was grateful my parents allowed me to tie it up into a ponytail. The bob made me look too much like a girl. My parents would spend hours at the kitchen table trying out different styles. As it grew longer they would celebrate by trying out a new style. I admit i loved having my hair brushed and even though i was afraid of being bullied at school, I let my mothers tie my hair in all kinds of different styles. If i ever said no my mothers would put my hair in a high ponytail and take me to the park as punishment. My step mother Maggie loved teasing me with hair accessories which she kept in her handbag. She loved braiding my fringe and clipping it to the side with a shiny brass clip. I remember our first holiday when my mothers tied my hair in a bun with a twisted plait while we waited for the plane. You should be grateful to have such beautiful long hair they would say. Such beautiful hair deserves to be dressed my mother would tell me. The first night of the holiday my mother and step mother made me sit for hours while they styled my hair into a beautiful up do complete with curls. When i complained they added pink hair clips and told me that if i didn't behave they would tie my hair in pigtails. The attached photo was taken on holiday. It shows how my mother would usually style my hair. I didn't mind the basic plait, it was the french plait i felt uncomfortable with. In the end i stopped complaining and got used to being my parents hair model.
