The way I've always added a bit of volume has just been to dry or brush it forward and then toss it back. I think that's your best bet. I've never noticed much difference in conditions when it comes to volume, regardless of the label. Maybe I just haven't tried the right one, though. And I wouldn't go with too much heat if at all possible. These days I'll often just dry mine standing in front of fan rather than using a dryer.
