For the last 15 years my hairline in the front of my head had receded on the top sides so that it looked like I had a widow's peak but I wasn't born with one. My hair had also gotten thin in the top back so I figured I was just following the dreaded bald path of my dad.
However it really didn't get any worse and spread. About 5 weeks ago I started taking nature's bounty optimal hair, skin and nails (gel vitamins with 5000 MCG biotin) 3X a day and a couple week's ago I started seeing short baby hairs coming back on my front. My receding hairline was coming forward!! My hairline is still not perfectly straight on my forehead but looks a lot better than it has for over a decade and I hope those baby hairs will continue to spread to the back of my head. But if not, I can't readily see the back of my head! :)

Hey Marty,
Congrats on finding a product which will help your hair to grow back!
I will look for Nature's Bounty optimal hair, skin and nails (gel vitamins with 5,000 MCG biotin). I will take it approximately 3x a day and see if it helps my hair to grow longer.
Your long haired bro,
Rsymond
I'm also taking 750 mg of MSM twice a day that's part of a cartilage supplement (Osteo Biflex) but the MSM by itself can be bought too but I have knee and shoulder problems so the other things help that but MSM is for the hair. Bill mentioned on his hair pages that these hair supplements will only work if a person is deficient in hair nutrients which I was for years-I should have done something sooner. The hair supplement got rave reviews by a lot of people on Amazon (where I bought it) so hopefully it'll work for you as well!

I hope this works well for you. The way things like vitamins and such usually work is there is an initial response and then the body builds a tolerance, after which effects may diminish. Also, everyone's body responds to nutrients differently. It depends upon many factors, including your overall diet. Quickly reading a bit about it, it seems like Biotin (vit B7) is pretty safe in the dosage you're taking, but it wouldn't hurt to discuss it with your MD sometime soon.
From Everyday Health:
"Biotin Warnings
Always check with your doctor before taking any supplement. Some conditions and medications can cause low levels of biotin.
Tell your doctor if you are:
On dialysis
Smoke cigarettes
Eat two or more raw egg whites daily
Take medications for seizures
Have been on a long-term course of antibiotics
Biotin is a safe vitamin that is unlikely to cause side effects."
I don't think you can take too much biotin as it is water soluble and what the body doesn't use ends up in the toilet. I found this on livestrong link below
Excess
Because biotin is a water-soluble vitamin, your body does not store the excess that builds up in your system. This means if you take more biotin than you need via supplementation, your body will likely release the extra biotin in your urine.
