I went shopping with my wife, and the lady at the checkout jokingly offered to trim my hair, and then my wife came out with the usual BS about trimming being necessary to increase thickness. I just said that I expose it three times to the full moon, say 3 magical incantations and sleep with an aluminium foil hat.
: Most people I meet here in Europe don't care how others dress or have their hair. The few who make a comment can be passed off with humour and overstatement.

your hair has a good length my friend! The response to the cashier is pretty amusing. I can imagine that she didn't expect that. Don't forget an owl's feather, haha. I think it is a good way of dealing with criticism, because some people just enjoy criticising.
