I wore a mullet hair style for several years and didn't even realize their was a particular name for the hair cut I had. I didn't even know that this style was ridiculed until I came across certain web sites. They're really funny sites. Anyways, i'm glad I started to grow my hair out all one length. It's now strarting to look much better.
Mike,
I started with the 'mullet' too. It was sort of an accident. My stylist misinterpreted my instructions one time, and left the hair longer in the back. It was having it longer in the back that made me realize that I wanted it long all over. Now, it is!
I've seen the "sites" too. It is humouous, and pathetic too, to see how some are so insecure in themselves that they feel such a strong impulse to ridicule and belittle other human beings. Human Nature, I guess.
Happy growing!

i'm with you zeke! i started with a mullet back in the 80's and loved it! i too have seen the mullet sites and, i guess i am a little taken back by the over-the-top kind of attittude that exists there. it almost seems like there is a hatred for them. . .considering how rare long-haired males are these days, i'm not saying anything!
admittedly, some of the styles seem somewhat laughable, notably, the old billy ray cyrus kind of cut, which to me was an extreme. but these sites seem to label ANY cut that isn't all grown out the same length as a mullet. . .i disagree.
i too eventually grew mine out the same length, however, after several years as a triangle head, have now, kept the length, but added some very soft layers; my hair is really wavy, so i can get away with it, and it looks a whole lot better!

Ignore anyone who starts lashing out against mullets or any hairstyle for that matter. How you like to wear your hair is your business. If other people dislike this or that style, they feel insecure (especially if they worn that style before) and start expressing themselves, for example, by posting anti-mullet sites.
Don't let that affect you. If a mullet works for you and looks good, then that's what you should do. If you find that an all-one-length hair looks much better, more power to you.
What can i say..the mullet hair do can really get to a person. After my birth into this world, "Mullet" was my first word. But the first time i actually saw one i was in awe, what beauty. So thats about all i have time for now....but if you have a mullet and take great pride in it....write me. I would love to hear from you. Have a fabulous hair day!
mullets are nasty! are you people crazy? if your going to grow it out, then just grow it out. but don't cut it short on top and leave in long it back...it looks like something trailer trash or big bad biker bob would do.
let people do what they like with their hair. while the mullet isn't my style of choice i wouldn't insult someone who chooses to wear it. your words ring of the same intolerance longhairs deal with from society.
