I just noticed that every, single historical post made on this site new appears to be available, from 1997 onwards. I’m not sure whether this is a new feature, or something that I simply missed earlier, but there is a “go to date” on the left, and one can enter a year and month there to zero in on a time, and read posts there from around that date and backwards. It works, since I have already explored a few posts from ages ago. Not all photos still exist, because some may have been linked to old sites like PhotoBucket, but single photos still seem to be present for at least some posts. Also, for really old posts, some photos are marked as “purged”, but that’s understandable, since these are mostly posts 20 or more years ago.
Thank you, Jesus, for adding this feature, and good to know that all these old posts from the archives were saved are are there for the viewing.

Hi everyone,
Just thought I'd post some of my long hair inspiration over my lifetime. I'm 54 now, so this goes back a little while :)
When I was 14 I was first inspired to grow my hair out by “Atreyu” from the movie the NeverEnding Story:

When I was a little older, 20s and 30s, my inspiration was David Gilmour from Pink Floyd:

Now that I am getting older, I still look for long hair role models, and one of my favorites now is Robert Plant who is 77:

Anyway just thought I'd share. I'd love to see any of your long-hair inspirations.
Happy growing!
Philip

Hi, you guys. I've been visiting this message board on and off for about 12 years. That's when I finally decided to grow my hair long. I'd always wanted to do it, but every time my hair got close to shoulder length, I'd get self-conscious and cut it short again. You guys helped me get over that. I posted a couple of times back in the day, but never became a regular.
Just thought I'd jump in and say hello. I just turned 55. My hair is currently almost mid-back in length.
As for hair care, I get regular trims every 3-6 months, depending on what I've been doing. Regular trims keep it looking healthy. My stylist is awesome. A couple of months ago, I told her I wanted to cut it short and she was like, “There's no short hair in this chair!” Love her.
Contrary to most advice, I shampoo and condition almost every day. My hair is fine and my scalp is oily. If I don't wash it, my hair it looks terrible. I use a moisturizing formula because its more gentle on my scalp.
I also use the hairmax laser comb to maintain my hairline. I started using it about twenty years ago. Does it work? Well, I'm 55 and still have a decent hairline, so maybe.
Anyway! That's it for now. Hope you guys are doing well.

Hi(gh)!
Finally I have lost enough weight to no longer hide a double (or even triple) chin behind my “talibeard”… so I made quick work of it and left only the mustache:

I hope to soon get some additional pictures showing me in my “natural environment” online here…
Ditching the long silvery beard was quite a relief - I got sick of the constant “Santa Claus!" comments in public! And I think this also signals a departure from my decades-long obsession with Afghanistan as a role model for personal aesthetics in appearance… my white pakol might well block oppressive summer sun, but I think a white (faux) leather durag, preferably with waist-long tail, will perform as well. Generally, “leather” is the keyword for my future style!
See you in my swamp!

Hi everyone,
It's been nice reviewing the recent messages and glad to see some uptick in posts :) You all are wonderful and I love this community of long haired guys.
It's time for my monthly update. The tips can almost (but not quite) reach my upper lip - which is the next milestone I am excited about. Still a work in progress, but every day of growth makes me a little bit happier :D
Hope everyone is well!
Philip

Hit 9 months of growth today, and I'm really happy with how it's progressed!! This is air dried, and I'm pretty excited about the curls!!
Thank you to you all for your support and community!

Does anyone have experience with Rogain?
After all these years of having long hair i've noticed some receeding hair line and balding spots.
I was looking at reviews of Rogain and one of the chief complaints is Rogain can lead to hair loss rather than hair gain.
I'm now 71 years old.
Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is enjoying the nice spring weather. Today, I’m doing something a little different by posting a couple of videos from my YouTube channel. I hope that this works.
I’ve always felt that seeing long hair in motion can show it much better than any still photo could. The first video, that I took a few months ago, shows my hair indoors, in motion. As usual with indoor photos, the hair looks lighter than it actually is.
The second video was taken while I was walking outside a couple of days ago, while walking, with my hair blowing in the wind. With the outdoor lighting, the natural silvers show better.
I guess that my hair doesn’t look too bad considering that I’ll be 73 in less than 3 months. I have a couple of other videos on my YouTube channel as well.

I'm ditching this board, again.
People here do not seem to care about growing their hair. Or seeking advice about doing so.
Good morning everyone,
It's been about 2 weeks since my last post, thought I'd make an update. Still on the path, alternating between feeling like I am making some progress and feeling like it's taking forever :) Not much growth since last time, but this is my hair freshly washed. Just as an experiment I've been trying egg-washing my hair once per week. It sounds strange, but it seems to work pretty well for me. Anyone else ever tried it?
Hope everyone has a great week!

Philip
