Does anyone else love the song "Hair" from the musical "Hair"?
Somehow the thought of all you men who revel in your long hair
warms my heart. I have always, as a woman, felt sorry for men and boys who generally are culturally restricted to short hair. Many men will never know the sensual joy of hair, something that I have always taken for granted. Does hair length impact your experience of your sexuality? I imagine that it would. Personally, although I've never really thought about it, I can't imagine not having lots of hair and having that be a part of my experience of self and sexuality.
I think that women like long hair on men, in general. At least that is what I have picked up from conversation with other women. Long hair on men is, like long hair on women, incredibly expressive somehow. You know - it can be sleek, black to the point of shininess, and swinging on the small, slender body of a young asian man, or tumbling, red and long, wildly down the shoulders and back of a tall freckled white guy. It's expressive. There is also something, for me, attractive about hair on men that is almost primal as though men with their hair grown out naturally look the way that men are supposed to look. And that is compelling to me.
I also wanted to say that I find silver hair incredibly beautiful - on men and women. As a woman, (and I am a young woman in case you were wondering; no grey yet) I do find silver hair on men very attractive.
So, to summarize, I recomend:
Grow your hair - try bobs, try shoulder length, try it long! Revel in it! And, then, find women who will appreciate it, maybe even brush and braid it for you.
What a beautiful compliment from you, O gracious lady! I am
gradually "silvering" (57), and one day will have those long,
majestic, silver locks of lifes's experience. In fact, there were
times when higher-ranking males were permitted long hair as a sign of
their rank and majesty.
Bless you!
OM

Thanks for the compliments. :) I'm glad people appreciate a unique quality in us longhaired men.
It is really refreshing to hear from women who like men with longer hair. I am a guy and I take good care of my hair. I keep trying for the longer bobs that you describe because they are so versatile and have nice movement but people around here pressure me to cut it because they see it as a girls style. Right now I have a layered bob down to my earlobes and graduated in the back. I want to let the layers grow out, have it cut to one length either just below my ears or chin length with eyebrow length bangs. I think that would look so good on me and I would be able to do different things with it. Do you think that I should go for it? What should I tell those closed minded people that say this is a girls style? I really think that all hairstyles/length should be for both men and women depending on what suites their features but men don't usually have all those options in society today. What bobs and lengths do you think would look best on a guy? Feel free to e-mail if you want.
Thanks "Admirer."
The only thing I would add to this is change your last line to read;
"And, then, find women OR MEN who will appreciate it, maybe even brush and braid it for you."
I have been lucky enough to receive a hairbrushing from both and it truly is glorious!
Thanks again Admirer!
My Site. Warning! Gay/ Bi Content! Nothing X rated, just that I like guys too!
Madoc-
I am properly chastened. You're right. You can love (or have your hair brushed and braided by) anyone you want.
the Admirer
Admirer & all,
I wasn't chastising you, just reminding you of the different options available. Such options are not for everyone and nor should they be. However, they are there and should be equally accepted. That's all.
Hi Madoc, again-
I took a look at your site. You have such nice looking friends!
I just wanted to say good luck with the defense of your club members. Reading about your page at first made me wish that I was away from the East coast where I notice that people are, at least outwardly, not as open to "alternative"(shall we say, meaning only NOT mainstream) lifestyles and sexuality. Reading further and learning that your club event was cancelled, I realized that reaction was premature; people in the U.S. are incredibly narrow-minded about sexuality and the celebration of it.

Thanks, I'll pass on your compliments to them.
"Narrow-minded?" I think oppressive, represive, discriminatory, and - of course - self-repressed would also be true. Some of the people out here on the West are truly uptight about too many things. California may have a reputation as being more liberal than other states but that does not hold true in practice. Thank you for you understanding in this and your sympathy for our plight.
On a Longhair note, I may be called to testify in the trials of the Six. This will be a first for me. I am keenly aware of how important maintaining a good image is in giving such testimony. I do not want to do anything that might jepordize the cases of the Six. So, I want to look as good as possible while I testify. My hair comes into this.
My hair has gotten much longer over the two years or so that I have been growing it. However, it is not long enough yet to put back in a tail. It is still at an in between stage. Close to tail length but not close enough. The last thing I want to do is see my personal appearance make the wrong impression on a jury. What to do?
At this stage, there is no way I would cut my hair off just to look sharper in the witness box. Nor would I want to try slicking my hair back right now. I have not used such products in the past and trying them now, so close to the first court date (the 20th), runs too great a risk of applying such products improperly and making things worse.
I have been trying to alternate the days that I use shampoo and conditioner while showering. I wash & condition every other day now so as to give the natural oils in my scalp a chance to do their job. On the "off days" I do wet down my hair while in the shower so it does get grimy. However, on those "off days" my hair looks MUCH darker because of the oils in it. The hair is also much heavier and does not fly into my face as much. So, it is a bit more controlable.
However, I am worried that it also winds up looking more "dirty" or "greasy" even though that is not the case. So, I am torn. Do I want to shampoo and condition my hair on the days I may be called in to testify or do I want to make those days an "off day?" I would pay a price for either decision.
Still thinking on this,
Madoc
The site that explains what Admirer and I are talking about.
Hair care products are designed to look good on the day you apply them, rather than to be the best thing for your hair in the long run, because most people just care about "now". Take advantage of that knowledge, and apply a product selected for its attractiveness on the day of your appearance in court. Any product not unusually strong, and not heated, should not hurt your hair appreciably if used for a day here and there, though it might look a bit funky for a day or two after. So on the day of your appearance, go for it man!
And good luck before the judge.

I came across this site by chance and find your remarks most intresting. I have cut my hair (only a small trim ) each year on the 1st day of spring. Some cultures believe that this removes the bad experinces. I have been growing my hair for about 6 years, and when I am done braiding it, it reaches the small of my back. With out the braid it reaches my belt line. I am 6' 2" so it is somewhat on the long side. The six inch a year ruls does not seem to apply, but it does seem to grow faster for about 4 to 5 months, than slow down for about 4 to 5 months. Starting at age 18 I spent 8 years in a job that would not let me grow hair past my collar. I vowed that one day I would be in a job that I was good enought at that my hair lenght would not matter. My supervisor and my boss both think I am an asset, and the lenght of my hair is not an issue. I like long hair on males and females.
This is an intresting site, and I am sure I will be back soon.

Thank you for all your supportive comments. I gotta say... if most women like long hair on men- where are they in Connecticut? I don't have much silver at all- but at 36 it can't be far off.
I guess that at this point I just don't care about any negative opinions out there- I want to see how long it'll grow and be true to myself. When I meet someone it'll be based on the profound honesty of not trying to impress by being someone I'm not. That way I'm less likely to be stuck in a relationship with a g/f who wants to 'change' me.
WOMAN: YOU SAID IT ALL!! There is something MYSTICAL, SENSUAL, PASSIONATE about long hair in both men or women- This is the feeling many millions of young men all over the world will never experience.
Let the boys grow their hair as long as they want. Just like the girls. Be all you can be!! right? I hear everywhere about the roadblocks women experience in the workplace. While I don't dispute this, I also see many women doctors, lawyers, bankers, financial analysts, and so on. And a lot of them are making big bucks. And guess what? Most of them have long hair!!!!! you just can't say that of men
Wish I could agree with you on your "women in general" like men with long hair point. Almost every time I mention my attraction to long hairs to female acquaintances, I get assorted odd looks and varying expressions of disgust and/or disbelief. Not that I care.
Perhaps it's a regional thing...
