I think I am a longhair once again!!! After about 18 months of growing (from shaved, about 1mm length), my hair now reaches my shoulders, and fits nicely into a ponytail.
I used to have shoulder-blade length hair, but shaved it on a whim, and have regretted it since.
Anyway, now I can wear it tied back at work, and I think the powers that be (my boss) is happier about that.
So, to all you guys who are in the process of growing, and/or feel trapped in the dreaded 'bad-hair' phase, keep going, you'll get there.
By the way, the two-week rule saved me a few times during the last 12 months.
Kilgore
god, I wish I followed the 2 week rule a year ago. Im about 14 months behind you.
Well, congratulations and welcome to the fold.
Congratulations! I'm right behind you, still waiting for the side hairs to get long enough to fit into a ponytail. This morning I was expressing some frustration about the loose hairs, and my wife said, "but you've come so far, don't worry, it won't be long now." It was nice to get that kind of support!
What is the two-week rule?
As I understand it, the two week rule is for those considering a major (remove all the length) haircut where you wait 2 weeks before cutting- then go ahead only if your resolve to cut hasn't wavered in the 2 weeks. This is to avoid doing something that you will profoundly regret.
This rule saves us from regretting a hastely made decision to cut our hair during the growing out phase. It goes as follows:
Once you feel like cutting your hair don't make an appointment with a barber just yet but wait for two weeks.
If during these two weeks your desire of cutting your hair doesn't go away then you obviously have had a good thought about the whole thing and know what you want. Go ahead with the cut and most likely you won't regret it.
BUT
If during these two weeks you even once felt that your hair isn't that bad at all as it is at the moment, then DON'T cut it, because you likely regret it. If you want the cut again, start another two weeks "thinking time" about it. Months and months of growth are snipped off in minutes but thing of the time it took to get there!
Best of luck to you!
