  My hair is maybe 2" on top and a half inch on the sides. This time I'm growing it out and that's that. Any suggestions is more than appreciated.

    Just keep it growing, and don't even think about trim the ends for at least eight months, otherwise it's going to take a lot to look long enough. Good luck!

      I hate to disagree, but to me, growing-out hair that is not trimmed and shaped as it grows looks unkempt and sloppy. Tell a good stylist what your goal is, and allow that stylist to help you grow out gracefully, with some shape and style to your hair. When I grow my hair out, I see the stylist about every 3 months. This is why you rarely see a woman with unkempt hair, even when we're growing it out.
