I just saw a reference on the international long hair site that there will be a photo shoot in Niagara Falls Feb. 25 - 27. This makes me think their long hair contest will be taking place then. If anyone else can confirm this, I'd be very appreciative.

Just wonderin' How does one dress 7 feet of hair (Victoria Sutherland's)in an "up" style? Where do we put it all? Any pics
that anyone knows of? I'm assuming if it were not "up" out of the
way, it would constantly be stepped on.

Well, here's one idea...
Perhaps occasionally, but Victoria Sutherland probably led a much less active life than a woman today would. The pace of life was slower, genteel women were homebodys, and the dress skirts alone wouldn't allow them to get within a few feet of each other. She probably had plenty of leisure to pick her hair up and keep it out of the way!
Its quite easy actually. The hair is bound in some way, wrapped, twisted, braided, whatever, then looped in some way to make it a more manageable length. Victorian ladies had elaborate drapes, braids and other wraps that they used. Nowadays the same techniques apply but the styles aren't always so ornate thats all.
A reasonable assumption since no woman with hair longer than her height would ever leave it loose for everyday wear.
I very much doubt this. Except for the occasional picture, a Victorian woman would not have been seen out in public with her hair down. It was considered very, very private, and to show it would have been in some ways akin to going out with one's underwear showing. Just to clear up a misconception, women with long hair are not handicapped by it and do not require the leisurely life of a genteel homebody in order to function with their hair. You wrap it up, you braid it, you tie it, loop it, pin it, in general you deal with it. Its not really that difficult. One thing a person with truly long hair does NOT do is run about dragging it all over the floor/ground. If you hear of such things, you can be sure they are simply not true.
Just thought you might like to know.

Well, that wasn't exactly what I was trying to say, but thank you.
I don't have a Sutherland picture to post, but I do have another.
