hey dudes,
if i do this correctly, y'all should see two pictures of me before i grew my hair and my current hair length. i'd like to see some of you guys before the longhair phase and hopefully a picture with your current hair lengths. I must admit that after discovering the dinosaur picture of mine in my old cabinet, I kinda freaked out.
dude how long is your hair now it goes out of the pic,
Well I can hopefully answer that...it is down it his butt and very nice looking indeed..and was sos nice to see in real life..:-)
Some of us have the luxury of being able to travel to tropical isles. :-P
Great hair, Samurai.
Did the Samurais and Ninjas in Japan have long hair like that?
Charles
All I know is the samurais tied their hair in tight buns and i think they plucked the hair growing near their forehead so their hair line would appear higher. About the ninjas, I would assume that some of them have long hair or maybe I just have an overactive imagination...who knows???
Ask, and you shall etc.
This isn't a very clear picture, but this is from March '97, after I had been growing my hair for about two years. Unfortunately, I was about to succumb to longhair panic...
This is April '97, shortly after I had my hair cut off because it was so hard to maintain (well, I didn't know anything about it), and so "unfashionable." I still remember the stylist asking if I was sure I wanted her to cut off "all them purrrrrty, purrrrrty currrrrrls." If only I'd listened... I regretted it almost immediately afterwards.
Last July, after nearly two years of growing (starting in September '97). It would have been a bit longer, but I had it trimmed about once a month for a while to keep it looking neat for work.
It's shoulder-length on the sides now, and longer in back, and I think it looks much better (this was around the end of the bad hair period), but I don't have a more recent photo scanned yet.
What a cool example of how some hair can really change a guys attractiveness quotient. Rob, don't take this wrong, the first picture is,....ok....but ordinary you know, just like the herd, but the second, well, you look great! You seem so much more confident and well,... very handsome. Don't cut it again! Miss Right won't be able to recongnize you without that gorgeous hair!
Best wishes,
Dawn
Thank you!
I sure hope I don't. All this support around here is a big help! The first time around, I didn't know where to get info on maintaining it, and didn't hear many encouraging words.
Hee hee! Mr. Right managed to recognize me without it anyway, but he likes it long, too, (lucky for him :)!
Sorry Rob, hope I didn't offend you with that hetero assumption. Whatever your preferences the hair helps us recognize kindred spirits though don't you think?
Love in any form is good so much happiness to you!
BW,
Dawn
Naw, that happens all the time because I'm so butch. :)
(I'm really more curious why you assumed I'm single. *Hmmmph!* :)
LOL! Will I ever get my foot out of my mouth on this one?! Time for miss sensitive and considerate to do a little assumptions reality check huh?!
And hey Rob, I just realized that it was you in the very first pic with the goatee too! I rest my case about facial hair making a man hot, hot, hot!
Its been fun bantering with you,
Best wishes to everyone,
Dawn
Rob! You look like a *businessman* in that pic, "all right
proper,like": someone's "no-nonsense" project manager.
Just kiddin' about the "business" thing. I like business; it's
necessary. I was just mourning your loss of all "them curls".

My most recent shorthaired pics are about 20 years old and I have to dig them out. Until then I'll settle for one of my recent longhair pictures...

Thanks for the pictures. What a great contrast. Here are pictures of me. I don't have any crewcut pictures scanned yet. Believe it or not, I used to wear a crewcut by choice. I liked the way my hair stood straight up. That preference lasted only till about the 2nd grade or so. What you see is from about age 10 to present (shown here). In the 80s, I had a brief period where I wore a mullet. My wife did the styling according to how she wanted it.

What a cool thread with everyone sharing their pics. The boys have thought Samurai's hair was incredible ever since they saw you over on longhairlovers and what fun to see all through the years with Victors pics.
Have you noticed that mens hair seems to grow really fast? Must be the testosterone or something. I'm surrounded by hair that grows way faster than mine and I'm jealous.
Do you guys all have hair longer than your partners? (male or female) and does that bother your women, if your hair is longer? I once had a now ex who tormented me with his hair, even convincing me to let his sister trim mine once (up to my shoulders!! I wanted to strangle him!) and his grew so fast that it was soon longer than mine. I hated that. How do your women feel about your hair? If your partner is a guy too do you compete in growing your hair?
Just curious.
BW,
Dawn
Naw. He doesn't really want his long. He's lost a lot on top, and his hair's VERY curly. He tried letting it grow for a while about a year ago, but it started to stick straight out over his ears like Bozo, and he couldn't stand it.
I think if he kept the sides short and let the back grow he could have a really hot-looking mullet, but I haven't been able to convince him of that. :)
I guess he likes the easy-care aspect of short hair, too. I don't really mind either way; the variety's nice when one of us has long hair and one short. And this way, we can both play with MY hair! :)
Hmmm. I don't know if this is true. On the other hand, I've never heard of a study being done on this. The average growth rate is said to be about 1/2 inch per month, which is close to my growth rate.
I don't currently have one, but when I did, hers was about as long as mine (see the picture of her braiding my hair) or longer. Besides, she's the one who started me growing my hair long. Now, my hair is much longer than hers, but we're divorced now, so it's not an issue. On the other hand, my daughters have reported that she doesn't like my hair now. No explanation why, though.
I have received comments from other women, that they were jealous or that it was unfair for my hair to be longer, etc. I've always just taken it as a humorous comment.
My wife has VERY short hair, and isn't really the type to like
longhaired men - although she says mine looks good on me. She
cannot grow her hair very long, it frizzes to death. So I tell
her that "one of us should have long hair!"

Hey Zorba, just as an aside, has your wife every tried Oidads curly hair products? They are supposed to be fantastic. And although I cannot use anything with silicones in it (makes my hair feel kind of sticky and strawlike) my husband has those ultra super curly locks that if improperly cared for can frizz out to a couple feet from his head! I mean wild! But if I use Infusium leave in on him he gets these smooth manageable ringlet curls that are just adorable. Just something she might consider for more manageable hair.
Best wishes to everyone!
Dawn
Hi all!
This is me, the left one in July 1998 after a "Number Two", the right one in February 2000 after 20 months of growth.
Best wishes
