I've got my air almost to where I want it, just passed the third vertebrae. I'm shooting for mid back, and then contemplating either wearing it in a tail or going ultimullet. A friend of mine suggested something he called 'The Elba method' to help me acheive the extra 3 to 4 inches I'm trying to get.
Apparently the Elba method is all natural, uses no chemicals, in fact all of the gels and oils used are by-products of sheep. It's a two step plan, step one being the nightly scalp massage with the oils and then soaking my head in the sheep balm. Step two concerns me though. In order to help the hair lengthen, they suiggest tying the hair in a loop around a pole, like a swingset or a pull-up bar. Then you are supposed to hang there by your hair for a few minutes. This is supposed to stimulate the folicles and add strength to the roots.
I watched my friend do it, and it looked kind of painful. Anyone else tried this?
In the old days, we called these "methods" snake oil...I'm sure if you think about it...the so-called Elba method used to be called the snake oil method...there are many good SAFE ways to encourage good hair growth...diet, exercise and good hair products. I just think nature can't be dictated to.
Buddy of mine uses it, he gave up on the oils and just washes his hair daily - its the same as massaging.
Then he soaks his hair from the roots outwards in 40 degree water - yowch! Then he loops his hair over the shower rod, and tugs or pulls, not hangs.
Far gentler, but still - dude has some awesome hair!
