Excuse me for giving my opinion, but mullets are very ugly and extremely unfashionalbe. They should in no way be considered long hairs. In fact they give a bad image to ling hairs, because they look like red necks or hillbillies. Have you ever seen a buisnessman with a mullet? Or a model, or any body with a decent job?
Idon't know, maybe i'm wrong(i.e subjective), but i am open to your views
Yes, several. Computer programmers, engineers, doctors, and contractors. Prob more, but those are the ones that come to mind. And personally I don't care what models wear on their heads, which is just as well since the vast majority of them are short haired at the moment.
Your tone seems rather ironic- this post sounds exactly like some of the arguments I've heard against longhairs in general. If you want to be tolerated, maybe you should show some tolerance yourself. Ridiculing people is not, as a general rule, a good way of making people respect your views.
Just for the record, I wore the front of my hair short for some time before growing it out. Although I prefer the bangs grown out, I could pull off the short front style pretty well. It just depends on the person. I've seen many longhairs who look absolutely lousy with long hair and would do well to get it cut. And others who look wonderful with it. It depends on your hair type, facial features, head shape, etc. There is no one best style for all.
Just my opinion.

Although I firmly believe in live and let live, I just heard that the mullet is supposed to be coming back into fashion over here(Britain), and i'm very scared!
P.S My friend's boyfriend is a computer engineer and has a mullet (although he is growing it out now, e got the job with it.)
Would you rather that the style was buzzcuts, as it has been in the US for a while now?
I don't really care either way - if I was a fashion victim, I would have cut my hair long ago.
As far as I'm concerned, coming across as a red-neck or hillbillie has less to do with the length of one's hair than one's attitudes. Case in point - check out the link below to the short haired preacher's site and his opinions about hair length for both men and women.
At the risk of sounding like a hillbillie myself, I've gotta answer, "YEP," I *have* seen businessmen and models with mullets. But I'm not sure what a "decent" job is. Are you buying into the ideology that "decent" = "high paying?" If so, does mullet god Billy Ray Cyrus' career in the Country/Western music industry measure up to your standards for having a "decent" job?
Subjective... YEP.
In my opinion, any haircut that is clean, well-maintained, and cut to accentuate good features of a face is not ugly. That is to say,
for some people, mullets look quite nice (I think my husband's is wonderful). For others, it looks unkempt or lazy. I believe your view is either subjective or else a result of viewing a bad representation of mullets (or both).
Keep in mind that some people feel the same way about long-haired men in general, and we all (or most of us) know that longhairs can be quite beautiful.
Sorry, what's the exact meaning of "mullet"?
I haven't found it on my dictionary
Thanks
Dr. Joe
I found it in my dictionary.
mul-let n,pl. -let or -lets. Any of various saltwater and freshwater edible fishes.
I found it too; I'm not interested in fish but in hair; Someone can explain me the exact meaning of hair-related mullet?
probably just slang that hasn't yet evolved into legitimate language. give it time.
Growing up in the 80's, we had a few names for the hairstyle that is long in back, and short in front.
1) SFiLBy = Short Front, Long back
2) The Concord shit guy hair - in the late 80's and early 90's almost every white trash ganster wannabe in Concord, CA had a mullet. Hence the name 'Concord shit guy hair'.
3) The doo doo do
4) The Mullet = Basically calling someone a mullethead. i.e. only a mullethead would wear such a silly hairstyle.

It's the slang term used for a hairstyle in which the top and usually sides of the hair are cut much shorter than the back.
Thank you !!!; I've just discovered to be a mullet!!!
