i was just wondering can anyone grow waist lenth hair?or do some guys hair grow to a certain lenth and stop or really slow down growing.the two guys who recentley posted there pic. had really long hair.i have been growing my hair for over 3 and a half years now and my hair is still getting longer its about half way to my waist maybe I to can get there,,,,,,,,,
My guess is that roughly half of the people can have waist-length hair, although it may be only a few strands for a lot of people that can get that far, not a really thick growth. For myself, I haven't trimmed my hair for over 4 years and the longest hairs are only about 20 inches, which stops a few inches short of the waist and hasn't changed in the last year or so. The thick growth stops around 13 inches. It's hard to know for sure what the real distribution of terminal length is since many people with shorter terminal length probably give up when it starts to thin out and cut it off square within the region of thick growth.
I've seen a fair number of women with terminal length shorter than
mine, so it's not a man-women thing, although if reaching the waist
is the metric, women have it a bit easier since the distance from the head to the waist is, on average, a few inches less for them.
Perhaps other board members can tell us what their terminal length is (or a lower limit for still growing hair) for the purpose of stats
LENGTH - with a G
I've gotten my hair down to my but 3 times, and cut it to about shoulder length each time. The one time when i was 18, i actually had it to the bottom of my behind. It was full, and rather thick. I just got it trimmed every 3 months, about a half inch. The last 2 times, it has gotten more split ends, due to lack of trims. That is the key. My hair is about half way down my back now, and is permed, and the texture is nice all the way to the ends. You just have to get trims and treat it nicely. Eat lots of vitamins, and vegetables.
i've been growing mine for 3 and 1/2 years also. My hair is about 4 inches from my waist. I think diet and vitamins are important. I also noticed that as my hair reached the middle of my back, the growth slowed a bit. I believe that this was due to the splitting of my hair. The splits would break off, and the remaining piece of hair was much weaker than usual, and broke off easily. Soon, the breaking process started to equal the growth rate. Once I started getting a regular 1/2 inch trim every 3 months or so, the growth rate has resumed.
Good luck.
A few years ago I saw a guy at a conference. He had hair down to the floor. If I remember right he wore it in a pony tail with just a band up at the top.
I can't figure out how tampering with the end of something dead can possibly have any effect on the live root that does the growing. That's like saying cutting your fingernails effects their growth.
Don't let the hungry hair cutters mess with your mind. Let it grow!
As I understand it, the hair folicle produces a hair for a while and
then shuts down. When it starts up again, it starts with a new hair
and the old one falls out. So the maximum length of any person's
hair is how long their hair folicles are in this production phase.
If someone's hair folicles are in production for an average of
6 years, then they can grow their hair around 3 feet long but have
difficulty getting it any longer. Other people might have hair
that grows faster or for longer periods so they can grow it longer.
From this, it would seem like nutrients that cause hair to grow
faster might also cause it to grow longer, but I don't know.
I've tried growing my hair numerous times over the years and have tried EVERYTHING* under the sun, including trims and supplements, and no matter what I do my Scandinavian follicles can only grow hair about 1/3 of the way down my back, long enough to where I can just tickle my nipples with it. There has to be some biological mechanism beyond the reach of simple nutritional supplementation which regulates when a follicle goes out of the anagen cycle. My observation is that Asians, Hispanics and native Americans can grow their hair to the damn floor with no effort or special supplementation, while some of us can't. It is very frustrating because I love long hair and would grow it to the floor if I could, but I cant :-( The only way I'll ever have hair that long is with a wig!
*Disclaimer: I have never tried Shen Min or whatever the heck it's called.
It *is* genetic, at least in part. We'd have to find the gene that
allows Native Americans, Hispanics, and Asians to grow extra-long
hair. That done, are we willing to fiddle with our genes and risk
making serious life-threatening or disabling errors to attempt to
insert the long-hair gene? Then again, have we researched the diet
which those aforementioned folks have, and have we tried it?

How long will it take to grow hair to my PUSS!
I have been growing my hair out for about 7 years now and it is a few inches past my waste. Although it has taken quite some time it has been a steady growth. I recently measured my hair at 40 inches. I should say I am 6'3" tall so that is part of the reason it took so long but patience is the key.

My hair's waist length, and I suspect it got that way because it grows somewhat faster than normal. I also noticed that it tends to fall out a lot if I gunk it up with more than a little conditioner to get the tangles out, so I use pretty much just mild shampoo and a comb and hairbrush. Benign neglect seems to make my hair happier than a lot of fussing.
