Hey when I use gel it makes my hair shiney and thus when it is a pony tail what do you do? Because it is hard and shiney then goes into the pony tail dangling out and not as shiney?

I like that effect. My hair is naturally curly and sometimes I deliberately use a lot of gel on the top to get a very sleek look.
Below the hairtie, its all shiny "wet look" curls.
Othertimes, gel on top with the ponytail blow dried straight, gives a
"quieter" look.
