Hey, all, HELP ME, PLEASE!!!
Before I explain my problem and ask for advice/suggestions, let me describe my hair:
it's brown, parted down the middle, and is basically the same length all around.
My problem: Since I have it parted in the middle (where there is more stress to the hair there), I'm getting some slight thinning, I think. SO: I figured I'd try to slick it back....AND WHEN I DO, it looks fine at first, but after about a minute or air-drying, the hair is still slicked backward, BUT the part line (from when I've it down the middle) becomes visible and very obvious.
And worse, even when I try wearing a baseball hat, I'll take it off, and sure enough, the part line is still visible -- and I look more bald that way than when my hair isn't slicked back!!
NOTE: About three years ago, I didn't have this problem; I had a job where I was able to wear a hat (with my hair slicked back under it), and since that worked out just fine, I kept that up until....I got this new job WHERE HATS AREN'T ALLOWED as part of my uniform!
So, basically, since I am unable to wear a hat at work now, I have so little time in the day to wear a hat. Follow me?
Anyway, I think I've said everything you need to know, SO PLEEEEASE tell me what I should do! And HOW I can do it (if it's something that is more complex).
Thanks a million (in advance) to any and all of you who can help me out here!
Mike
Ps. I have a pic of my hair, but it's from September '99; I'd like to post it...but I'm not extremely internet savvy, so I haven't been able to figure out how to post it for you to see on THIS message board. How exactly do I do it? Can't I just post the pic's web address IN the area where I type the message? --it's that easy on some message boards.
Anyway, Laters, fellow longhairs.
I hate to say it, but that's pretty much what's happened to me in the past few years, and I think it's just my hair thinning with aging. I used to part it on the side, but now parting it in the middle makes the thinning on top less noticeable. And when I slick it back, it tends to fall to either side sooner or later.
I'll be interested to see if anyone else has a real solution to this, but I suspect there's nothing to be done apart from trying a medication for baldness like Minoxidil or Propecia. (I did try Minoxidil, but it was too much of a pain to apply, especially with long hair, and I think I had an allergic reaction. I've been afraid to try Propecia, unless perhaps the thinning gets worse.)
