When I wash my hair, I usually do it in the morning. Once out of the shower, I let it dry, then slap on a dollop of Potion 9, maybe a smidgen of gel on the sides, brush/style it, tie it, and I'm gone. A couple nights a week, though, I go to the gym after work. On those nights, I wash my hair when I get home and just let it dry before I go to bed. Invariably I wake up in the middle of the night with my hair frizzed out and flying all over the place, but especially tickling my face. Also with my hair in that condition, if I try to -- uh -- snuggle up with my wife, it has the same effect as tickling her face with a feather -- not the effect I was going for.
We've all been told that it's not a good idea to go to bed with your hair in a pony tail, so does anyone else have any ideas on how to restrain it, or at least reduce the "tickle factor" in that situation?

p.s. I know there are gyms that have large shower/locker rooms with hair dryers, etc. But mine is tiny and jam packed, so I go straight home in my workout clothes to get cleaned up on time for dinner.
I followed someone's suggestion a while back and bought a satin pillow cover at the girlie girl beauty supply store. Works great. I do keep my hair in a pony tail at night, but move the band a bit lower and
add a second band farther down.
Braiding before bed also helps...more fun if your lady does it...
I shower every night before bed because I go to the gym everyday at lunch. My hair occasionally has a chance to dry before I hit the sack, but often it is still damp. *** What I do*** is use one of those big feminine scrunchies and tie my hair up near the top of my head in a bun. I think it looks like a samurai top-knot, my wife says bun. either way, it works wonders for me.
Once in a great while the scrunchie will fall out during the night, but 9 times out of 10, it stays put, and my hair has no more tangles in it then when I went to bed.
good luck,

Potion 9- What is that? Is that like Love Potion #9?

Potion 9 is the name a the best leave-in conditioner I've ever found. It's made by Sebastian, is available only at Salons or beauty supply houses, and costs about $12 for a tube or $28 for a pint-size tub. You only use a bit at a time, so it lasts a long time. It neutralizes my frizzes after shampooing and keeps my hair from looking like the giaint web of a pack of drug-crazed spiders.

Tie a side pony tail or braid with the first band in the hollow just behind your ear. If you opt for the pony tail instead of the braid, tie additional bands at about 3 inch intervals.

I like this idea the best of any so far. With a side-tied tail, even a klutz like me can reach it well enough to do a loose braid. Plus, since you're going to bed anyway, you can ignore any conventional wisdom as to how it may *look*.
Thanks to all who responded to this thread. Every answer was helpful and each of the various approaches should solve the tickling-hair-in-the-face problem for someone.
