Hello again. I just thought I'd check in to see what readily available hair products (shampoo, conditioner, hot oil, leave-ins, etc.) all of you good folks use? By "readily available", I mean stuff you can buy at Wal-Mart or the mall. Just thought I'd compare notes!
I use two products Billy. "Selsun Blue", medicated (for dandruff and dry scalp) and "Thicker, Fuller Hair", a condtioning rinse, that adds fulness and also is a good detangler of those "knots" you get when your hair is long. I bought both these products Billy at Rite-Aid.
When was the last time you saw--or did you ever see--a "Wal-Mart" or "mall" hair care product used/featured/sold by a hair care professional in his/her salon. We could be saving money like you by stocking/using that stuff--but, more importantly, we would be sacrificing quality--just like you when you purchase those products. Healthy hair is my business; I don't buy, use or recommend that "stuff" to any of my clients.
Oh please... Now I've heard everything, a 'hair-care-product-snob'.
Of course you don't sell inexpensive "stuff" to your suckers...er, I mean clients.
I use whatever I grab off the shelf at whatever store I happen to be in when I remember I need hair stuff. If you are genetically predisposed to have strong and healthy hair, you will, no matter what you use. My hair is to my shoulder blades, and I have yet to find a single split-end, and believe me I look for them.
Get over yourself.

I use "Finesse" shampoo and conditioner, which you can buy at a grocery store. My husband (who also has long hair) uses Paul Mitchell Shampoo One and Detangler, which you can buy at a hair place in the mall.
All hair reacts differently to all types of hair products. If you don't mind using cheap stuff, I would just suggesting trying out various ones until you find one you like. If you have sensitive hair, however, I would recommend getting something from a salon.
Been awhile since I checked in. I use Salon Selectives No. 5 shampoo, and "E" conditioner, shampoo every third day, and once every two weeks shampoo with Neutrogena Clarifying Shampoo. Since I work in a conservative, Fortune 500 company - I wear my hair combed straight back in a ponytail (one fistful and about an inch)and use LA Looks gel #3 (the yellow stuff)since I am not quite to the point of getting everything in the tie.
My hair is down to my shoulders on the sides and back, and about an inch below my nose in front. Last paid haircut was in Jan '99, but my wife did trim about an inch off last month.
I use Aussie's products, mostly as recommended on their website (www.aussiehair.com). In particular, I use Aussie Moist shampoo every other day, plus the Aussie Hair Insurance leave-in conditioner after shampooing and every weekend Aussie 3-Minute Miracle (I don't use the leave-in one when I use the 3-Minute Miracle). Also every day I use Aussie Gloss (just a drop or two, for my shoulder-length hair) for shine and to get rid of frizz.
Pretty good stuff overall, not store brand cheap or anything, but so far I'm satisfied and I'm sticking to the Aussie line unless I feel like experimenting again.
I use Pantene shamppo+conditioner (either fine hair or dry/damaged, depending on my mood) and then the seperate Pantene conditioner for dry/damaged hair. Iy comes out wonderfully.
