Folks,
Untangling my hair after I shampoo and condition it has started to become a real pain - literally!
What do you guys use?
I shampoo and condition every other day and on the days that I do not put the goop into my hair I have much less a tangle problem. I also towel dry my hair as opposed to frying it with a blow dryer.
Your suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Madoc
Madoc...I use Paul Mitchell THE DETANGLER......I think it works good.......I also use his shampoo.......I do not blow dry my hair eirther......when I find I am getting alot on tangles i go get about a half inch trimmed off it realy helps.......and after you condition in the shower finger comb your hair to get the tangles out....and Never brush wet hair....I hope this helps you.......you hair looks great I hope your thinking about cutting it because of your tangles
Sorry I meant to say I hope your NOT thinking about cutting it it looks great.....sorry about that
PHEW!!! For a second there Bob, I thought you might have been one of those evil buzzcutters trying to sneak in a subliminal message about the joys of haircutting! Good thing you set that straight! -g-
Seriously though, have no fear, I have NO plans on cutting my hair any time in the near future or otherwise. My next major goal with my hair is to have it long enough to braid!
Thanks for the Detangler recomendation.
Madoc
I use Systeme Biolage Hydrating shampoo, follwed up with Systeme Biolage Detangler daily. Seems to work well.
On the days I don't use a regular conditioner, I use Aussie Slip Detangler. Doesn't have a "greasy" or "weighty" feel like some conditioners. Works great and is around $3.50 a bottle at local Wal-Mart/K-Mart. Normally only use the regular conditioner 1-2 times a week now...and when I do, I also have more tangles.
Good Luck!
I've had good luck with two concoctions:
1 tsp. cheap vinegar in 1 pint warm water (the vinegar smell goes away when it dries). The acidity of the vinegar closes the hair cuticle.
or if you want something fancier:
Infusium 23 - a leave-in conditioner - I recommend diluting it 3 parts water to 1 part Infusium.
I was using Aussie Hair Insurance leave-in conditioner, and now I'm using Infusium 23 (which I pour into the empty Aussie spray bottle so it's easier to apply :). Either one might help.
It seems odd that you have MORE tangles after using conditioner (if that's what you were saying). Perhaps the leave-in conditioner alone would work better on your hair than the rinse-out kind.
And you are using a wide-tooth comb, right? I got a tortoise-shell "long hair" comb a few months ago from Long Hair Care Group (www.longhairgroup.com), and it really does seem to glide through the hair (particularly using leave-in conditioner) better than any others I've had. It's about $20, but I'd say it's worth the investment. (I haven't been able to find a real tortoise-shell comb anywhere else.)
