Hi everybody,
I have quite thick brown hair, about 3 inch long. I always had it shorter but I want to grow it out. However, it gets curlier and fuzzier when it gets longer. I heared that rolling your hair on curlers might help to control your hair better and untames the curls. I want to try it out, but I'm not sure my hair is longh enough for it. Before I puchase curlers or go to a salon can somebody tell me 1. if my hair is long enough and 2. are there any other males who curl their hair? Personally I wouldn't mind having my hair set, but I know it's not usual for a man to use curlers so I would like to hear some experiences
Thanks,
Peter (curlypeter@hotmail.com)
PS: I'm 20 years old; I live in Holland
there are quite of few of us guys into curlers. check out the hair clubs on yahoo or try this:http://beseen2.looksmart.com/boardroom/x/47711
some of us are crossdressers some of us aren't.
some of us have straight hair and some have curly.
if you want to try curlers, the best to get st4arted with are velcros. the large blue ones should straighten your hair. however do not try to sleep with them-- the are real bad about getting tangled.
I too have curly hair, and for a long time spent hours on end straightening it. Unsurprisingly, I had the same problems as many of the other "curlies" posting here, and my hair ended up neither straight or curly, but simply frizzy and in poor condition. So three years ago I gave in, and i've never looked back. Although I got some attention with straight hair, it went through the roof when I went back to nature, and I no longer have to wreck my hair my constant blow-drying. It's in better condition than ever, plus I get far more compliments than I ever did with "straight" hair. The moral of the story is, perservere with your curls - you may learn to appreciate being able to have the sort of hair naturally that some people spend a fortune trying to get with perms.
Well my hair is curly too and about 5 inches long. I will tell u this, the longer it gets, the curls are going to get even worse. So i have tried many methods of trying to keep it straight but it is a losing battle. I have found ways of getting it straight but half way through the day the curls return. Its a battle i dont think i can win cause trust me, i have tried almost everything i can think of. As far as curlers, i hae no clue how those would work. The best thing for my curly, frizzy, dry hair, is this: I use small amount of olive oil and get it evenly into all of my hair (olive oil gets rid of all the frizz and keeps it smooth and nice) and then use gel to give it more hold. I slick it back then put hair net on to hold it down and straight while it sets. After this when it dries i can rub my fingers through it, it will stay pretty straight and smooth for a while, but eventually it will start getting curly again, especially after ANY physical activity. Well this is what i do....but man having curly frizzy hair is a bitch while you are trying to grow it out =]
Best of luck
MH
Peter,
Do as you wish, but why the desire to straighten it out? Long curly hair can look awesome on a guy.

I agree.
It is nothing wrong with males setting their hair and using curlers.
I suggest that you go first go to a womens beauty/hair salon and have your hair set and get advise on how to care for your hair. My experience is that womens beauty/hair salons are more serious and give you a bettewr treatment than male salons.
