i havent gotten a haircut in 15 months. when i put my hair in a ponytail, not all of my neck hair gets tied up. i think it looks pretty nasty!! should i trim it with clippers or shave it? is it going to grow longer so it will be included in the ponytail? whats the rule of thumb on this? Help!!
I've tried both letting my neck hair grow, and shaving it. It never seems to grow long enough to get it all into the scrunchie. I've also tried gelling the strays into place.
Usually, I give up and shave it after a year or so. I think a clean neck emphasizes the ponytail, while any "ungathered" hair seems to detract from it.
Just be very careful when you shave your neck. It is very easy to accidently remove some hair that took so long to grow.
I know what you mean. My boss grew his naturally curly hair out last Fall and this past winter. We're in kind of conservative setting (Investment Banking)so its not too long just pretty bushy, over his forehead, covering most of his ears and dense ringlets in the back, over his collar. When he had his hair cropped short he had shaved the hair on the back (and front)of his neck because it grew up from his backa and torso kind of wooly. But as he grew his hair out and stopped shaving his neck, the hair there left un trimmed did get kind of wild and unruly. This Spring when we were in Barbados on business, he had one of those young kids at the harbor braid the hairs on either side of his neck with some yarns and a bead or two. He'll usually conceal the braids with his curls in the back or behind his shirt collar. But on dress down fridays and weekends he'll just let them rest over his shoulder atop his chest.
At 15 months, yours must be long enough for braiding, no?
