please if anu of you can explainme how to tie a turban for men´s maybe te indian style, sihk or some laike this.
thanks
The standard Sikh way of tying a turban involves using approx.
6 ft. of light Indian cloth called "voile." It is usually
available only at Indian fabric and clothing stores. The standard
or "long" way involves twisting from one corner of a room to
another to do all the turns--very complicated. :-)
I tie mine using the "short" method of using 2.75 yards of voile.
I put my hair in a pony tail, and tuck it on top of my head--
and clip it with a small plastic comb to the top of my head on the
rest of my hair. Then I also put on a small wooden comb called
a Kangha, which all baptized Sikhs are supposed to wear.
I fold the 2.75 yards of voile over once length-wise, and drape
the cloth over my head like a head shawl, with equal lengths
of cloth drooping down over both sides of my head.
Then I hold my hand over my right ear, and drape one side
of the cloth diagonally across the top of my head and forehead.
I do the same with the other side of cloth. Then I tie the two
pieces of cloth behind my head once, and roll and tuck the
two ends into a small roll behind my neck.
The turban appearance in front is of criss-crossed cloth
at the forehead--which is the typical Sikh turban form.
I am a baptized Sikh, or Khalsa.
Hope this answers your question.
