is it best to wash hair at night, or in the morning before you style it? also, is it possible to rinse too long? i don't think so, but just want to make sure all the wter isn't drying my hair out or something. i doubt it though, as long as the water isn't very warm. i's just that when the condioner is on and when it's rinsing, my hair feels just the way i want it to, but when i'm all done rinsing it doesn't feel as soft anymore. i supose that's just cuz all the conditoner is gone. basiclly what i'm asking here for are some good washing and conditioning tips... thanks
i don't think it matters too much when you wash... though a morning shower is the ultimate cure for bed head. i doubt you're doing anything wrong with your conditioner... you might consider a leave-in (like infusium 23) to use after your shower.
i recently read at a website for women with long hair about how to wash their hair, and what it said was something like this...
brush your hair before getting in the shower.
put all your hair to one side and leave it like that the entire time you are washing to prevent tangling.
wet hair.
now this is the stupid part... they said apply only enough shampoo to coat the hair, DON'T LET IT GET FOAMY or you have used too much. it should be like a gel still. they also say only apply it to the surface hair and when you rinse it will get within the hair. it seems ridiculous to me, i mean i don't think your hair would get clean this way, especially considering all the stuff people put in their hair... what do you guys think?
btw, john, could you describe what your hair looks like please?
thanks
just use shampoo the way you normally do... getting it foamy is simply working up a lather- a result of using shampoo properly. follow up shampoo with conditioner. i have found this quite helpful in removing tangles after a shower. brushing it before getting into the shower does make sense.
my hair comes down to my lower back- touching my waist... most of the 'mane' is lower mid-back and tapering to the beltline it tends to be dry & brittle. i've experienced problems from time to time with breakage & split ends- shampooing less often and using a leave in conditioner seems to have helped. hopefully it'll grow out another 6 or 7 inches.
