I'm 22 yrs old and have had shoulder length long hair now for about the past 4 years, and have noticed that ever since I let my hair grow long, I seem to lose a significantly greater amount of hair per day than when it was in a shorter style. Everytime I wash my hair, there is hair left in the drain. When I brush my hair, there is hair left in the brush. When I get up in the morning, there is hair on my pillow. I've also noticed that this hair loss seems to peak during the summer months for some reason. Anyone have a similar experience?
Somewhere between 50 and 100 hair strands fall out of your head every day. This is a natural occurrence for all of us, not just people going bald. New hairs grow in their place.
When you have hair twelve inches long, you will get twelve times as much hair in the drain as when you had hair one inch long, because you have the same number of strands, but each one is twelve times longer. Make sense?
So relax dude. And enjoy clogging the drain. It's just one more sign that you're a longhair. :-)
