I just rand accross this message board yesterday and I've been reading all of the entries. I think its intresting that most everyone is very excited about having long hair in a sort of rebellious way. I feel the same way.
I went to a high school that had a dress code that wouldn't let me have a beard, sideburns, or hair below the back coller or below my eyebrows. I almost always broke that rule a little and they gave up bothering me, but it never got really long. My dad has always had a beard so I grew one summer between my junior and senior years and then had to shave it off.
I haven't cut my hair now since a week before my graduation. That makes it about a year and a couple months since I cut it. I'm in college now in Tennessee. My hair is long enough to pull in a ponytail now except for my bangs. The back is pretty long when I pull it back in a ponytail, but my bangs always come loose and fall in my face. I was wondering what others did at this point. I feel kinda silly outside with it pulled back. I don't pull it back when I'm out but since its hot, the back curls up behind my ears which is very hot.
1) Gel and/or spray
2) Make the tail higher
3) Wear a hat
4) Bobby pins behind the ears
I figure I've got another month or so until it will stay behind my ears.
You can twist your bangs with the long ones, or tuck them under the locks that are tied back, and only use a *teensy* bit of hairspray. I come from the school of "no hair care products other than shampoo." Push them behind your ears. If you're into it, it's sort of "alternative" or "hippy". I like the way my bangs sometimes fall down; I don't let my eyes get covered or anything, but a lock that frames my face is neat. Your hair might be too thin to pull this off.
Oh, by the way, you look sillier when you feel silly.
Is this meant seriously? I can't imagine a school, that can restrain pupils in that way.
Yes, I am telling the truth about the dress code at my school. They get away with it because it was a private school. In addition to the hair rules, we had to wear collared shirts and have them tucked in too. Just a preppy look required basically.
That's sad. We haven't any restriction on hair length or wearing beard in my school. We only must be well-groomed and clean. But we have a different school system in many ways.
So, enjoy freedom now.
