I am 27 yrs old. have long, very thick, wavy hair. everytime i comb or brush or remove my hair elastic, hair falls out. in to the brush, onto the floor, in my hand. am i using the wrong shampoo? i use pert plus, all in one. thinking about getting Pantene Pro V. is this normal? how many strands are supposed to fall out a day? what is acceptable? i really dont think its falling out on its own, its because of tangles and pulling. i get out of the shower and use a pick to comb it instead of a brush. is there a shampoo to prevent this? i know a lot of people use Pantene on this board. What type , what type of conditioner, and how often to wash it? PLEASE HELP!!!
I asked my stylist about this very thing because both my wife and were wondering, she said it's normal to loose up to 100 strands a day.
I thought I was loosing an excessive amount until I really looked at what was comming out. With long wavy hair, mines the same, 1 strand can look like a lot on a comb or around a tail band. I actually counted them one day and found only about 25 after a good combing, althought it looked like about 1000;-)
Our stylist said as long as your hair doesn't start getting thinner, there's nothing to worry about, and she's been working on us for several years and has not noticed any thinning.
Hope this helps.
why is that i never lose ANY hair at all, during washing, brushing, anything...am i just not noticing it?
That is no doubt the case. Is your hair straight perhaps? Straight hair strands tend to just fall off your head one at a time, while curly ones get caught in your hair and mostly come out all at once when you comb or wash.
ok...what about if it has started thinning? I have a receeding hair line and a few thinning spots that my wife has suggested using berrets to pull the hair over to cover. But what about thinning? At mid-back length Im not going to cut it...no way/no how. But what about thinning?
If your hair has started and you want to try to do something about it, your best bet is to talk to a dermitaligist to try and determine the problem. It could be just a skalp condition that can be corrected, but since you say your hairline is receding, it sounds like it's more likely the natural thinning that happens.
Depending on your specific case, you might be able to at least slow it down with a product like Rogain, I think there are also some stronger perscription types that the dermitoligist could give you. Good luck.
