Hi Cath:
Thanks so much for the kind words and the great viewpoint on "unisex" styles. As I guess I already mentioned, my girlfriend was the impetus for me to get this style, with of course support from your writings on this hyperboard. As far as acceptance goes, I am a dance major in college and my summer job here in Maine is teaching at a summer arts camp....all inside dance studio teaching.....I teach Ballet, Modern and Jazz dance to loads of kids each day. I believe that everyone likes my hair, because no one has kidded me about it yet. I do find that when I had long hair that I could easily braid it for dance(one ballet instructor even required me to put it up in a bun), now I need to use a barette to keep the hair out of my face. Small sacrifice. I did have a kind of "experience yesterday when my girlfriend and I were walking the mall....I was mistaken for a girl by a salesperson. My mom thinks my hair looks "cute" and has promised to buy me a set of hot rollers for when I go back to school next week. My girlfriend has now imbarked on updating my wardrobe.......so we'll see where that is headed.

Hi Jayme,
Glad to hear that other people have accepted it and like it. Do you tend to wear it loose most of the time and just clip it back for your dancing or do you keep it clipped back most of the time anyway. Have you considered trying a hair band instead or can you not put it into a french braid.
How did you feel about being mistaken for a girl. Perhaps I have given the wrong impression to some people. I am not suggesting that guys should go for these styles to really look feminine (although of course some people do want to do that and that is fine if its what they want) - rather I am saying that some of these styles are perhaps on the boundary of what is ok for men in addition to women. Of course I and others can only respond to what people ask and if a guy really does want a feminine style then fine ask away - but not all guys do and the bob is probably an example of a cut that can be worn by both sexes and there should be no stigma attached to this. In addition, if a guy has hair flopping in his eyes and wants to keep it out of his face for a dance (or even just during the day) then why should he not be able to use the accessoires that are accessible to girls - although, perhaps there is a distinction between hair accessories for prettying up a look and hair accessories for practical purpose.
Finally are you able to post a pic of your cut, or could you direct us to a GA photo to just give us an idea of what length and style you ended up with (she has had so many different styles in the past few years it is hard to keep track).
Cath
JAYME.....quit teasing us!!! you sound really cute. got a pic to share? Undated wardrobe?
Jayme,
I would describe my hair as a longish bob / blunt cut. My hair is cut more or less to one length (with a side parting) which is just in contact with my shoulders. I blow dry the ends so they curl in slightly, and straighten it a bit since I have naturally curly hair. I have short bangs which I also part to one side.
Is this similar to your cut?
Any ideas from others on different variations with this type of cut.
Pete
