Well, where do I begin? First of all I have partial albinism which means I have a lack of pigment in my skin and hair. My prob;lem is I have long white hair(15 inches) and it has begun to take on a yellow urine like color. This is really disheartening for me because people have been telling me for years that it is exceptionally beautiful. I have tried to use neutralizing shampoos but, they only succeed in making my hair purple or blue. I know you guys probably cannot help me but, I any suggestions would be greatly appreciated because I am at the end of my rope and am considering a military hairstyle.
i sympathize with you and would like to hear from anyone that can help. my own hair is gray and several inches below the shoulder. since i have let it grow out i have had problem with the yellowing. my stylist blames it on the minoxidil. i have tried the clairol "silk and shimmer?" it worked for a while until i acquired i large purple patch near the crown that would not go away. the surrounding hair was quite yellow and was treated with a temporary dye. that did not work. so my wife with help from a friendput a permanent (i.e. peroxide) color on it which did improve the situation except for the fact that i panic and did not leave it on long enough to get the white white i want. i am going to ask my stylist to bleach it out in a few weeks.
any help appreciated.

doesn't look like we are getting much help here. i am trying a product reccommended by my hairdresser. it is made by revlon and is called Roux Fanci-Full colorstyling mousse. the color im using is #52 white minx. i shampoo my hair, towel dry, and spray the mousse onto my brush and brush it through my hair. it leaves a slight bluish cast to the hair, depending on how much you brush in. the first time i put too much on. no problem--shampooed it our and tried again. idon't know about longterm use-- but it is a good temporary solution.

I seem to remember a topic like this from before. Have you tried searching the archives? I suspect the yellowing you see is the result of oils decomposing. You see this on cloth that has been exposed to oils as well. I think most treatments involve a bluing agent, which, as you described, can be a problem if overdone. There's an Aveda shampoo that I've used that might help. It is called Blue Malva I think. It's rather expensive, but it does an excellent job of cleaning and just might do the trick for you. The first time I used the stuff, it turned my hair literally squeaky clean. No other shampoo has done that for me.
I'll keep my eyes open and let you know if I hear anything else.
