Well, for as much as I can do with twists and braids and clips and everything else, I'm not much of one for styling shorter hair, or extensive bangs / face frames. My idea of beautiful long hair is just long all around, so I would like my bf to grow his all out. (he's been putting off a haircut for about 6 months now) I braid it sometimes, which he likes, but doesn't wear it out in public, because he thinks he looks horrible with his hair pulled away from his face. So he would like to go back to an old style, with more hair covering his face, ie, cut short on the top and sides. (see link)
He likes to style it in the morning (with brush and blow drier) to create a side part and a wave over his face, which looks good, but we can't agree on what he should do with it (although we both agree he needs at least a trim for split ends). His current hair style is in my last post. Any suggestions?
Hi Barbara,
If I understand you correctly, you are saying that Mark wants to grow his hair long at the back, but because he does not like it tied back off his face, he wants to have it shorter at the sides and top, so it does not get in his face all day. Hmmm... difficult - I initially thought of the shag haircut style - which perhaps raised its profile with Jennifer Anniston and Courtney Cox recently, but was beloved of guys such as Mick Jagger in the 70s - I have put a link here. Is this what you/Mark had in mind. The older photo you posted does suit him, even perhaps (dare I say it) more than the other one which I guess is more recent - that is not to say however, that a style could be found which does suit him with much longer, even one length hair. Growing out is always the most difficult time of course.
Perhaps someone can come up with a suggestion where Mark could continue to grow his side and crown hair but have it styled away (but not off) his face - i.e. careful use of a blow dryer (or even rollers??) - this may still then frame his face, but keep it more or less out of the way, and look less severe than a ponytail or braids. Perhaps this is a compromise that you would both be happy with. Personally, I like braids but you have got to like the way you look so Mark does need to find something he is comfortable with.
Let us know how it goes :)

I saw your post about shag hair cuts and thought that that might be the answer but I was thinking about letting mine grow much longer than Jennifer Anistons', also I think that the waves in my hair might not look good with that kind of cut. Any suggestions?
