How can I go from a standard short layered man´s cut (with the ears completely free) to a long blunt-cut bob (about medium length between chin and shoulders) with full bangs to my eyebrows? Should I grow out my hair in a chaotic way first to the entire length and then get the style or is there some more smooth and controlled way that gets me there in just about the same time with better in-between results?
Depends on preference. You'll get there faster if you don't go near a barber or salon until your hair is pretty much the length you want it, but you'll look tidier and your hair will be more manageable if you enlist the aid of a stylist who can shape your hair periodically as you grow toward your goal (if you go this route, be sure to choose a stylist who will listen to you and understands your final goal). YOur choice, either way keep it growin, man!
I have a bob haircut to just below my ears with eyebrow length bangs. It's great. I love the style and movement. Anyway, I want to go a little longer but am afraid. I went the route getting trims until it got long enough for the cut. That way you don't go through the shaggy period. DO make sure that your stylist KNOWS that you want a bob. Otherwise he/she may cut too much off. It happened to me.
SO are you going to go for the bob? I recommend the style because it is normally easy to care for, it has wonderful movement, and it is versatile. If you want to talk bobs more you could e-mail at bobbedguy@excite.com or visit www.bobhaircuts.com. This is a good bob site.
