I've had long hair past my shoulders for a few years now, but I'd shaved my sideburns off completely until recently. Now that I'm trying to grow them out, it's all looking very messy. The portion of my sideburns that's technically part of the hair of my head doesn't seem to want to achieve any real length, and the beard hair section is of a very different, very fine and thin texture. I can't even get a trimmer to pick up the latter. I wish I had a pic, but I lack a scanner. Any advice you guys could give would be much appreciated.
I'm confused...would you run that past me one more time?
Whoops, looks like I overdid it. Basically, I'm trying to grow in sideburns but they're looking like a scraggly mess, and I can't get the trimmer to pick them up because the hair's so fine. I've also noticed the area of hair right above my sideburns, which I used to have buzzed, doesn't to seem to be gaining any real length despite the fact that I've been growing it out for almost a year.
Just wondered how old you are...some younger guys, even in their 20's, have sparse beards, which become thicker as they grow older. I notice that my hair, which I consider the upper part of my sideburns, does grow much more slowly than the rest of the hair on the sides....so I keep my sideburns high and trimmed. Most longhairs I have seen have trimmed sideburns.
Actually, I'm 21. Maybe I'll just have to be patient and hope my beard fills in as I get older. Thanks.
I knew one man who had no beard to speak of until he was 26 and then it grew in really thick. So patience may pay off in your case. :-)
