Hi guys...I just wanted to apologize if I offended anyone with my posting re: the TV show "Style Challenge" looking for men to make over. I never meant to upset or anger anyone. I was enlightened when a nice man who saw all of the heated reaction to my post,
e-mailed me to tell me what was going on. I'll try to explain to you, what I told him. (He saw things differently after a few exchanges and I hope you guys will too. If not, then so be it--but I have to try.) I didn't realize that there was such a backlash against men with long hair. I really didn't know that you needed a serious forum for support. I didn't mean to come into it and freak everyone out. I'm glad that I have been enlightened. I was just offering a free hair cut and color and a new outfit and a chance to have some fun. I just figured that your web site was a fun way of celebrating and talking about your long hair. Please don't lump us in with every other talk show. They ARE all freaks and do take advantage of unassuming people and we are NOTHING like that. This is a very different, cool show where there will be no conflict or surprise or trashy elements. We will do everything tastefully and will never be offensive. We will certainly take your insight into consideration when producing it. This show is going to be on one hour a day, 5 days a week. We will want to do every possible different kind of make over including keeping long hair on men long and just shaping it up and showing different things you can do with it. Right now, this is just a TV PILOT, not the series. For the pilot, we must have drastic changes in our guest's appearances---INCLUDING the WOMEN. We are not taking short haired men OR women for the pilot because we really want to change the way they look--not because long hair is bad on men or women--but we simply need more to work with. It is not some crazy hidden agenda to conform all long haired men to what society thinks is acceptable. I really wouldn't take this so personally. Yes, Cher is our Executive Producer--and as most of you well know she hardly believes in conforming. She is very liberal and open minded. All of us at "Style Challenge" appreciate women and men with long hair. The ones who end up doing our show won't even necessarily get their hair chopped off and they definitely won't get their heads SHAVED. It's whatever the stylist chooses to do. Who knows, our stylist could be someone like Jose Eber who has long hair and loves long haired men for all we know. We all want this show to do well and to make everyone happy. There really was no hidden agenda or mean spirited judgmental plan. We were simply looking for men with long hair and decided some web sites devoted to that may be a good place to get the word out. We thought that maybe one of you was considering cutting it or had a friend who was. Anyway, I hope this helps some. Please accept my apology. I'd also like to thank the web master for not removing my previous posting. Sincerely, Erin I. Producer, "Style Challenge" P.S.- You guys should buy Framesi "Shine In" polishing spray (at most beauty supply stores) It keeps hair smooth without being greasy and it smells great. I swear by it!
Apology accepted, but...
We wouldn't have the patience or determination to grow our hair to the lengths we do if we didn't take it personally.
It is, but it also doubles as a support forum for men who are uncertain about the prospect of having long hair.
Thanks for the tip. :)
You ask for excuse and then this:
>For the pilot, we must have drastic changes in our guest's >appearances---INCLUDING the WOMEN
It looks like drastic change from long to short.
I HATE IT.
This single sentence alone disqualifies you and your show. I hope that now longhaired is so stupid to go it.
About this Jose Eber I have heard not so nice things (at hairboutique.com, some times ago).
To be happy with long hair needs no stylist, I think in this context they are absolutely superfluous. I would like it if hairdressers and "stylist" had more knowledge about long hair care and how to support it.
