I have looked everywhere, but I can't find any men's hair web pages, men's fashion magazines, or men's dress shops who carry men's hair clips. I'm looking for masculine-looking ties, clips, twisties, etc. that have that "guy" look. Maybe Celtic designs, rugged leather, metal fashions.....I don't know. Can anyone help me out? I live in Florida where it's very hot; I have long, blonde hair which I need to keep back in a ponytail, usually. I'd appreciate any information or leads to sites or magazines or stores where I can find "non-feminine" (ie., pastels, flowers, etc.) hair accessories! Thanks! Calibanus
Check out this site. It's the best I've found so far for masculine hair accessories.
Your'e in luck.... I'm a jewelry designer, and have recently invented a sterling silver pony tail holder that looks great, is easy to use, and can't fall out. I wear one made of gold. I originally made them for my two long haired sons for Christmas. You will want to chech out my web site at www.tailcuff.com
Just last week I was able to find a good selection of
plastic color accented barrettes at Wal-Mart. Just select
one that is close to your hair color--they blend in quite
fine, and there is no problem with them having any
identification with "masculine" or "feminine." They do
a great job of keeping the hair out of one's eyes.
I obtained some large size barrettes in dark green. They
blend in nicely with my black hair.
I also obtained some small barrettes that come with
a whole set of removable/replaceable color oval rings:
royal blue, medium green, red, yellow, and pink. One can
change the color of the rings whenever one feels like it.
The nice thing about Wal-Mart is that it has a LARGE selection
of hair accessories, and you won't break the bank to get
any of them. Good luck, have fun, and go shopping!
Loren,
I don't mean to get personal, but don't you wear a turban? In
which case it would be moot whether it blended in or not... :>)
Pete_J--
Yes, I do. But every now and then in the complexity of life I
have to go out after washing my hair--before it is fully air dried.
I never use a heat gun (electric hair dryer) on my hair.
I do not like to tie a turban over hair that is still damp. So
on those few rare occasions, I do go out without wearing the
turban. And it is on those occasions when using barrettes close
to one's own natural hair color is appropriate for me. Hope
this clarifies things.
