Mine looks exactly the same. I have been growing only for 6 months now. So i convinced myself that i wont get split ends this early. recently my hair feels a bit dry and unmanagable. After i started using garnier fructis conditioner it feels much much better. But still, iam not entirely convinced. Well, I guess i have to keep growing until one day i get enlightened like 80s metal.
But any answer regarding this will be helpful.
Cheers!
I have no idea either!
Good picture indeed. I am not sure as i am no expert on this topic. I found these in my hair aswell - it is almost like a double split-end in a lock of hair. I would say, just to be safe, cut above the split, just above where the hairs splits into 2 different directions. See if that helps.
Are you in a climate that is cold right now? Do you have a humidifier running? Do you deep condition once a month?
I have serious issues right now. Cold, closed up, no moisture anywhere. I'm soaking my hair in olive oil, leave it as long as I can stand (2-3 hrs), add jojoba oil when it gets too tangly, etc.
You cannot bend your hair to your will. You have to deal with the conditions it is going through.
nope i'm not in a cold climate but today after combing my hair and looking at the shedded hairs i am almost certain the problem is not enough moisture is getting to the ends since my hair is curly and i use to shampoo and condition everyday. i'm going to try putting alittle bit of olive oil on the ends of my hair tomorrow after i take a shower.
i read somewhere else on the board that you should use just enough to make your hands shiny but i was thinking, should i wash it off before i go to sleep so it doesn't get on my pillow and is it ok to apply it when the hair is dry.
This "twisting" method makes no sense at all. All the hairs are different lengths, so they are all going to stick out. This has nothing to do with split ends. You have to search through your hair at the ends until you find a hair that looks like a "Y" or a tip that looks like a "V" and clip it off... that's all. I couldn't see any splits in the photo.

Yeah, don't twist. All hair is different lengths. You are also pulling from two different areas on a curved scalp. So finding multiple hairs that are exactly the same length when pulled to the same location is pretty slim.
You actually have to look for split ends, like Ardroth said. It'll looks like an exit ramp on a highway. It just branches off from the rest of the strand.
