Thanks to all who help with my previous problem (hairstyle at work), I have these questions thr.....one, just one. My hair is quite strong despite a poor diet of whatever happens to be available (Pizza, burgers, taco's, chow mein, rice...etc). It stretches pretty well, and when it snaps it can be heard 15+ft away (tested by an old coworker on a slow night). Now, here's my problem (if it can be called that), is there any "sure-fire" way to get my hair more limp? I like it as it is, but alot of the time it's a bit stiffer than I'd like for a ponytail (read: stiff and bushy). Cheap-ish type things are my goal (paycheck took a good pounding this time around).
well, how often do you wash your hair? if you wash it every day then you never let any of the natural oil build up. that can really make it bushy or stiff feeling. mabye use shampoo on every other wash. on the other ones just do a conditioner only wash.
It may be products on your hair are stiffening your hair. I'd suggest soaking your hair in vinegar, and it is cheap stuff, cut by half with water for a few minutes. When I have done this my hair is softer either because I have removed residues from my hair or peossibly I am burning off a bit of the outer layer of hair with the weak acid. Don't know what is happening exactly but it works for me.
Also as SOADdude mentioned, oil can be helpful both your own or added such as small amounts of coconut or jojoba oil spread lightly along your length.

The vinegar, not the hair I assume :-)
I guess you could always test the erosion rate of hair by water given enough time. Leave the vinegar on long enough and you could cut through the hair too. Dunno if the look of acid styling will ever take off though.
