Hi!
I've posted a couple times but it was months ago. Some questions to everyone about my shampooing. Also my hair type is thick wavy/curly and ever since I started growing my hair I've learned quite a bit about how to handle and style. Working with the curls, air drying, not using a ceramic straightener, etc.
Right now it almost touches my shoulders when dry, easily passed when wet. So I wash and condition about twice a week but I noticed something recently using only about a quarter to half dollar size of shampoo and massaging the scalp only. My hair feels thick even when wet and the curls hold volume.
So the only issue is how strange it feels when wet, it feels greasy and hardens a bit before drying, especially after applying the conditioner (looks like its been gelled). In the end my hair looks really good, minimal frizz without using any products yet I still feel as if I'm doing something wrong.
What are everyone's thoughts? Any similarities with your own hair? Should I try using more shampoo, because I still feel that dirty texture even when applying more shampoo at times. And then I'm afraid of overwashing spending more time trying to achieve the feeling of clean hair.
Is the greasy feel the hair's own sebum? And the reason my hair looks better is because I'm only shampooing the scalp allowing the sebum to remain on the strands?
Thanks, I appreciate everyone's opinions and/or suggestions!
Hi Tirion,
Probably you are doing things just right. It is quite within the range of normal that hair feels a bit funny after applying conditioners and letting it dry - what conditioner are you using?
Maybe most important - you can absolutely relax and enjoy your hair. There is no need to be self-conscious about your hair (if I interpret things right).
Keep g(r)o(w)ing!

not to worry; my hair feels exactly the same way after i wash it. i don't think anything's wrong.
i know what you mean. Don't worry. You seem to be doing everything right. You should also apply some conditioner to your ends and leave it to sink in.
