Hey! I am in the process of growing my hair out. I have curly hair, but I also have a chi (straightner) so I sometimes style it straight. Here's my deal: I love my hair! But, I'm in college and I'm a business major. I need a "do" so that I can keep my hair and still look professional. It's only long enough to pull into a "girly" pony at the crown of my head, so a pony isn't an option. Any ideals are appreciated! Thanks and have a great day!
Good!
Does being a businees major in college (or anywhere else for that matter) mean that you can't keep your hair? Why doesn't long hair look "professional?" Many many many of the greats of the past had long hair, and they certainly were professional as well as respected highly. Some school teachers in my area have very long hair..........and, they are well thought of "professionals."
What you say is indeed true; however, I would like to find a way to style my hair in a more traditionally accepted way, yet keeping it longer.
I guess maybe I should be asking, "What product will give the best hold?" or "How could I use bobby-pins?" I'm open to anything at this point, except a haircut. :D

Lol!! I especially enjoyed reading your last line!
Well, as your hair gets longer, you're going to find that with each added bit of length there will be a different type of solution. For example: with me presently having aprox. waist-length hair now, I primarily braid or bun it whenever I want to look my most "professional". For "hold", I no longer use gel, --- especially since it has a drying effect on hair anyway. I massage beneficial oils (Jojoba, Kukui nut, or Almond oil) into the lower portion of my hair instead, which does 2 helpful things: 1) it helps prevents split, dry, & damaged ends; 2) combing it through helps it travel the full length of the hair shaft, including helps control fly-aways, --- and makes it easier for me to do a really nice braid, bun, or ponytail. I have oily hair, so I don't oil my hair near the scalp; I just focus on oiling the ends & lower half of my hair (with a SMALL amount of beneficial oil), where the natural scalp oils no longer reach that far down too often any more.
I will try to add a pic...
