It seems in the UK, more and more males are becoming emo-crazy. This hair doesn't necessarily have to be long, but it is longish. I think that this is great and will make people notice longhairs a lot more and hopefully quit throwing slurs at them.
Anyone agree?
I'm going to have to say no. "Emo hair" is longISH because usually is is short in some area; like the back. And then some horrible side-sweep or angle cut in front. Or some other bizarre style/hackjob. Do a Google 'emo hair' image search, with or without the quotes. I hardly put them and true longhairs in the same category.
I agree, I've seen many emo styles which are longer and it is definately bringing longer styles back. I think you will see the "emo styles" get longer and longer with time because most emo boys are really into thier hair, growing and styling it
As I understand it, "emo" hair is as you described it, hair longer on one side of the face to the point that there's an angled sweep to one side, maybe covering the eyes. I've also heard that part of it is never combing your hair. I don't know if that's true, but looking at some pictures of shorter haired "emo styles," with the hair always covering their faces, it looks like that could be true.
This theory also applies for guys with that kind of hair cut that is long enough to be in their eyes, and they are constantly flipping their heads to the side to get the hair out of the way. the great majority of these guys, in my opinion, are posers. This hair style does not take the work it takes to have true longhair (you all know what im talkin about :-) ). These guys go like 2 months without a haircut, then all of a suddent they have "long ish" hair (someone else mentioned that before me), and people who do not have long hair and are somewhat conservative view these hairstyles as the exact same as guys on this site who really do have long hair. I dont know, it just kind of gets on my nerves. The guys with this longish hair cut will probably have no problem getting it cut in a month or two, as soon as the look goes out of style. However, guys with real long hair really want to have long hair because it takes them YEARS to achieve the length!! Thats just my two cents... what do you all think????
emo hair is a trend. on the other hand, actual long hair is timeless. what really makes me laugh is the fact that people are styling their hair in the "emo" fashion because they think they are being different and unique. well, its not unique when you can walk into any mall and see tons of others with the same exact
hairstyle.=)
from what I've noticed of these "Emo" styles. they're nothing new and are actually similiar to the "Beatles" cut and early Rolling STones haircuts from around 1964-65.
many guys would've liked to wear their hair that long(yes back then it was definitely considered long), but probably due to school restrictions they couldn't.
I say if it's longer than a military type cut I have no problem with it. maybe not long by comparison, but if you look at the early Beatles photos you would probably not consider that long either.
hey i didnt think abou tthat......thay ARE kinda like the beatles style hairdo, only with a little more fringe i guess
Most hairstyles are a trend of some sort. There are only so many ways to cut and style your hair. So really, is anyone "unique?"
I totally agree with you and hair styles come and go and growing longhair takes a long times and certain with it and alot of pride for sure. Perhaps one day the mullet might be as popular again that's the thing with trends you never know.
John.B
I think that you are 100% correct.
Yes, but it sure beats "Buzz" cuts.
yea longhair isnt really a trend like this emo cut seems to be (exept perhaps in the 60's but that was more of a political statement)
Ah yes Emu...giggle!!!
I personally do not like emo kids at all. They're somtimes pretty cool, some people really put a lot of work into it.
P.S.: never get involed with one of these emo people, in my experience your whole life turns to nothing but drama.
I have dark blonde hair which has always been 'short', but at its present length (5 months growth) some people on this board may label me an 'emo' wannabe. I have always greatly desired long hair (however i don't think i would like anything longer than shoulder-length) but have been restricted for many years due to school and parents.
Personally, i think my hair looks better growing over my eyes or with a side-part and have felt all the better for it on this fantastic journey of self-discovery.
The point I am trying to make is that I hate labels/categories/classes and it is easy to besmirch 'emos' in general while there are some genuine people out there trying to find their 'hair' selves amidst trends...all the while being bundled onto the bandwagon that is
EMO
embrace this 'emo' as a resurgence in the 'growing of hair'
cheers
I agree, its hard to argue with anybody who thinks hair is important, even if you're not too fond of the exact look. Hair is an expression of themselves as much as longhair is for many.
i wouldent really consider the "emo" cut as long....just that stupid fringe thing they grow
i guess the hairs o.k....for a fashion trend
but i dislike the "emo" music (yunno with people pretending to cry on cd or somethin) but thats just me
Firstly, i hate emo music. The lyrics are garbage delinquent stuff about girls and other superficial matters. They have no talent basically.
Secondly, their image is very poor and it makes me laugh. They don;t have long hair, far from. They all seem to have it longer in the front(long bangs) to the chin length maxiumum. They colour their hair all sorts of wierd, tacky colours and they straighten it. Basically they butcher their hair. I am allowed to say i dislike "emos" because i have the right to my own opinion .
Long hair was more prominent in the 1970s, not now, generally speaking. I'm not wrried about fad trends, be yourself.
Emo-hair is a bit of the slight-of-hand from some of the young and constantly changing youth .
Like weekend punkers they have pretty average haircuts which they style like the new wavers of the 80's when they go out to the clubs, etc. and get to look longer by the dramatic way they comb and smear their hair around. By day they can look just like everyone else (unless they stay in character to attract attention).
Some people like versatile haircuts that they can style a lot of different ways. Just because you like your hair one way doesn't mean you have to wear it like that all the time. And maybe they realize that one has to look more conservative in certain situations, like a work environment. That doesn't mean you can't go with something more creative during your off time. Just a thought.
