I have been wearing a half-ponytail lately. Also been noticing more problems with tangles and knots as my hair gets longer.
Karsten

Here's a side view of the half-ponytail ... only washing my hair once a week now.

Not much to see from the front - but the cartoon effect makes me bearable.

Nice arty photoshop effect. I might try that myself.
Are you using Paint shop pro? what version?
You look like one of those medieval men.
Your hairline seems to be pretty good for your age which is a good thing.
It's the photo program that came with a Kodak Easy Share camera. I also have Paint Shop Pro (version 6), it does not offer this effect but it has a lot of other fun stuff.

Very impressive halftail, Karsten!
You really do have awesome hair, I much prefer the regular pics to the altered one, though.
I keep my hair in a tail with at least three hairbands.
This gets your hair from getting tangled day and night.
You hair looks very healthy with wonderful highlights.
Good luck
I cant wait untill i can do the half ponytail. It's a very cool look. As for the tangles I can relalte, I've been having more problems with dry hair as it gets longer that creates really bad tangles but i have not found a cure yet.
Keeep on rockin the half P tail, looks great!
Looking good Karsten, I use that style myself alot.
Interesting how you can see the effects of the sun on that top-layer of hair you pulled back. The lower layer is dark and the ponytail has lighter streaks. I see the same thing on my hair.
I LOVE half ponytails, too bad my hair still needs more than 2 years to grow the length i want.
Looks fantastic Karsten!
Yeah, I hear you on that one. As it gets longer I have found that being as gentle as possible with my hair has worked wonders. Have you tried simply "Finger-Combing" your hair? (Starting from the bottom and gradually working your way up.) Sure, I hit some tangles and snags along the way but am able to seperate them quite easily. After "Finger-Combing" you can follow-up with a wide toothed comb (starting at the bottom) and if desired work your way down to a finer toothed comb. Also, I find it helpful to segment my hair from the back and pull it over ea. of my shoulders. Then with my head tilted go to work on one side at a time. When done put all in back of you.
But there IS one thing to consider if this is not helping.........the dreaded "Split-ends." If those are present it is even hard finger-combing. In a case such as this unless those ends are taken care of the problems you are faceing now will eventually get so bad that you will be hearing snaps from hair breakage and (this is what happened to me) actually tearing perfectly healthy hair right out of your scalp! When the ends are snipped.............presto! Your hair is like a dream to work with. And.........only those that are split need to be targeted so no loss is even noticed.

You hair looks wonderful. You may want to try jojoba oil to reduce tangling.
Absalom
Where can one find jojoba oil? I have looked in various drug and retail stores and have not found it. (Being male, I of course do not ask a clerk for help.)
Karsten
I love the half tail style and can't wait till I have enough hair for it not to look crazy. The medium blond color is very nice too. You have some sweet hair!
As for the jojoba oil, try a vitamin shoppe like GNC or a health food type store. That is where I found it. It's good stuff. It makes your hair feel so soft.

Looks great. I've tried this a few times myself. My only problem has been that I seem to get a lot more tangling with the hair-tie when I try to do the half-tail than when I do the full tail. I've had better luck using a dark plastic barrette that I found at Wal-Mart for a similar look.
Jim
Karsten,
I love that look. The halftail really looks great. I'm thinking of wearing that style pretty soon myself.
Jason
... your positive compliments and support is greatly appreciated.
A million thanks!
